A Little About Me...

I'm just a 31 year old chick from Rhode Island, married to a Canadian, tattooed, childfree, and a World of Warcraft addict. I fancy myself a photographer, or an artist, but who am I kidding - I count pills and sell drugs to junkies.

Disclaimer

I write about everything. If you don't like it, if it's too personal, if you don't want to hear it, if it offends you, if it's about you, I don't care.

I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control, and at times hard to handle, but if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.

Release Night and Vacation (Day 1)

My little Death KnightEddie and I have been up since about 9am playing WoW. This is nothing, since at Gamestop last night there was a woman there who was bragging about how she doesn’t work and does nothing but play WoW for at least 14 hours a day. The “release party” wasn’t too bad. We got there at about 10pm, showed our receipt for our 2 copies of the unspecial edition, and bought a strategy guide that came with a free bookmark. We also got a couple of hats because we got there early. Eddie got a cheeseburger. Over the next 2 hours people trickled in until there was probably about 40-50 people there. The girl with no life started trying to come up with what she thought were creative ways to get the store manager to give us our games before midnight. She also talked nonstop about the game, and how she had preordered 3 copies of the collector’s edition, one of which she’d sold to a friend for $250 (some friend, eh?).

Last night we came home, installed the game, and created our Death Knights. Eddie’s is a Tauren named Riggamootis (because he’s dead, and a cow, and IT’S FUNNY DAMMIT), and mine is a tiny little Blood Elf named Aldara. For those of you who aren’t in the medical business, Aldara is a cream generally prescribed for genital warts.

Today we’ve spent a lot of time questing. It’s very strange to not be the highest level in the game anymore. I’ve got shit attacking me left and right, and stuff can kick my ass again, and I’m dying because I do dumbass things like running into the enemy cities because I thought it looked like a place I should check out. All in all it’s pretty damned fun right now. :whee:

Holy shit! I forgot a title!

I’m feeling better, thanks for asking. My nose seems to have finally started to dry out, I’m on the last day of my period, and I only seem to have a cough at the end of the day. Eddie’s been bargaining with me to get me to take the Buckley’s, the most vile substance known to mankind, as well as giving me a liberal coating of Vapo-Rub before bed, which is not nearly as sexy as it sounds. Yesterday I spent the majority of the day on the couch, curled up under a blanket, watching the BBC America channel all day.

Unfortunately, Supertech is still sickly with a fever. Poor girl. She needs a guy to rub her with Vapo-Rub I think. Preferably a non-freaky guy.

I should get dressed. Today we’re expecting to get some rain from Hanna, and we still need to go out and get some groceries and things for this week. I’d like to play a bit of WoW perhaps, and work on my crochet a little bit. My current work in progress is making one of these in various shades of green and blue. It’s worked from the inside out to the edges, and so far I’ve managed to get the two inside rounds and a few diamonds on the third round.

I’d also like to check out the tattoo shop up the street from here and see if they’ve got any sort of portfolios in the shop so I can check out what they can do. With any sort of luck we’ll have our check from the old apartment this week and can start working on more ink, so I’d like to check these guys out and see what they think they can do to fix my chest piece.

Look! I’m posting about work! and WoW!

Supertech is on vacation this week, so I’ve been covering her shift. So far it’s been ok; Monday was fine, Tuesday we were running around, and today went pretty well. We managed to score ourselves a tech from a Maine store who’s not half bad, smells really good, and has all the front store cashiers swooning over him. He’s totally what I’d have gone after 10 years ago - that sort of cute but dorky type. You know, the type of guy just like Eddie. The RPh wasn’t bad today. I’ve got another 2 days of working with her though, without the A-Team of me and Supertech, so we’ll see what she’s like on Friday when she’s had to not only take it upon herself to correct every single thing that the other techs do but deal with her least favorite tech tomorrow night and the other things that drive her crazy. I could tell some stories, but I’m sure if she just Googled me she’d be able to find me without any trouble, so I’ll keep some stories to myself :)

We’ve been living here a month now, and so far things aren’t bad. I don’t freak out about every little creaking sound from upstairs like I used to do when Comrade moved around upstairs in Pawtucket, which is something that I was a bit worried about. We’re definitely eating better because Mom cooks us actual food, and we’ve been taking lunches to work (although I do get myself a #6 at Wendy’s once a week). Moneywise we’re doing ok so far. Eddie goes to work with Mom so we’re not making an extra work trip any longer, and the commute for me is only about 5 miles more than it was before. I have to get up a few minutes earlier to get to work on time, but it’s not that bad in terms of what we spend on gas - I put 10 gallons in today and it will probably last me until next Tuesday or so.

And those of you who don’t play WoW or don’t care either way can just skip this stuff. Eddie and I decided to take the plunge and leave our cushy little officer positions in the guild we were in. It was a tough decision; we’d been there since the guild was formed and had watched it grow from a handful of players to a pretty big guild. However, over the past few months it had really gone downhill, especially after the originally guild leader had left. Any time anyone had tried to set up anything, half the people who signed up wouldn’t show up, and the ones who did would wander on an hour after things got started at times. Eddie and I got tired of being considered 2nd string players and never, EVER getting invited to anything even though we’d made it quite clear that if we’re not on and someone wanted to do something we’re a text message away. For those of you who actually play and understand what I’m talking about, our guild managed to get into Kara as a guild once. Eddie and I were in there that time, and that was the only time we’d ever managed to get in, because no one ever thought to extend an invite to us. We were the guild bench warmers.

So this week we jumped ship and applied at a very large guild that has more organization than I’ve ever experienced, which is something that they’d need with something like 400 players (compared to our paltry 40) and something like 4 Kara runs going on at the same time every week just to farm badges, in addition to the extra ones that people organize on the fly during the week for folks who missed out and the bigger raids going on doing the 25-man instances. It’s quite the change, and really going to force me to totally go outside my comfort zone and actually talk to people. People that I don’t know. Thankfully, they seem like a cool bunch of people so far, and I’m looking forward to signing up for a run next week.

What to do, what to do…

We’ve got an hour before bed, Plurk is acting up and we’re booked solid on WoW this week, so I’m thinking that Eddie and I are going to get our asses off the computers and go watch some X-Files while I crochet for a little while. I might just be able to finish an afghan before winter.

Makin’ our dreams come true…

The other night I had a dream that I invented a FABULOUS MACHINE. It wasn’t just any kind of fabulous machine, it was worthy of the capslock treatment. This machine took food and dehydrated it, leaving the outside crunchy and the inside gooey. Eddie told me this was already invnted and is called a toaster, but this FABULOUS MACHINE could also do one more thing, and that was convert the theme song of Laverne & Shirley to a ska style. Can you just imagine a barrage of horns backing “Our way, yes our way!” JUST IMAGINE IT, PEOPLE.

This week has been faster than usual. The first half of the week we got slaughtered at the end of my shift, and then today it was DEAD. Oh, and the lovely week off I had last week? I discovered on Tuesday that I’m getting paid for all of 10 hours of it because of some convoluted way that they’re calculating the vacation benefits with the company buyout last year, and since my hire date isn’t until next week I only had 10 hours of vacation time to use last week. However, after my hiring anniversary, I’ll get my regular amount of vacation, which can be used until Next May. Thankfully Eddie will be getting a bonus next month, so we’ll be back on track with finances, and then we’ll be moving into the new place which will give us even more cash.

And now, I’m going to go see about actually doing something in WoW, since my guild has gone to shit and no one wants to actually do anything. I swear that if I wasn’t running the damned website I’d be searching for a new guild at this point, but that’s a whole other post.
