I’m feeling better. Eddie brought me chicken tenders on Friday night because I was able to eat half a can of soup without tossing my cookies, but made me agree that I would not drown them in hot sauce as is my normal procedure for such food, so I ate the most bland tenders ever. Yesterday I ate some popcorn chicken for lunch and then had actual meat for dinner, neither of which gave me much trouble aside from sitting in my stomach like a lump of concrete. I’m still a little low-feeling, probably a bit of leftover dehydration and all the fun that goes with that sort of thing.
Eddie took the truck to get inspected on Friday and it didn’t pass. According to the garage it will be about $1500 worth of work, which is bullshit because I priced out the parts and it’s about $250 worth of parts at most from what I can see. So I’m going to call Dad today and see if he can fix the broken bits if we buy the parts, or if he knows some unscrupulous garage that would be willing to pass the truck for us, because we’re good people and all, and good people drive safe vehicles. Right?
We’ve pretty much finished the living room at the new place, and it looks fantastic in blue and white. The trim needs to get done again because when we did the white walls yesterday it became apparent that “Brilliant White” is not the same as “White”, or as Eddie calls it “not white”. The kitchen is nearly finished as well, with just the cabinet doors to be put up. They all would have been put up last week, except that I underestimated how many screws it takes to put up 21 cabinet doors and had missed about a dozen hinges in my original painting of them (they were hiding under some newspaper on the counter), so they needed to get painted yesterday as well. And I’m going to paint the kitchen bricks white, because they look terrible and it will drive me crazy until I make them match because I’m just that OCD about that sort of thing. Unfortunately we forgot to take the camera over there again this week so there are no updated pictures, but I promise some next week.
In geekier news, our WoW guild is coming back together as strong as ever after the original founding GM left. We’ve got 3 healers (druid, a paladin, and a priestly level 70 bank-alt), so we did a bunch of instance runs over the past few weeks to see how well everyone works together and we’ve got a decent flow with each other which is fantastic. It also helps that during these runs everyone who doesn’t have much experience with the eleventy-billion Outland instances (*cough*me*Eddie*cough*) has gotten some fairly decent new gear out of them.
Yesterday was the blessed last day of the long work week. It was capped of with a bang when I dealt with a gentleman on the phone who wanted to know why he couldn’t just et a bag of Cialis instead of just 4 tabs at a time, because “it’s not like I’d be hurting anyone.” He also wanted me to fax his MD to see if we could get him a rx for Viagra instead because it works better for him. “Sure, it doesn’t last 36 hours,” he says, “but then again neither do I.” This was a fine way to end the week, especially considering that I got the crazy lube-lady’s questions about some Durex Tingle lube, where she came up to the register and loudly asked me (and pretty much anyone within earshot) “IS THIS STUFF GOOD FOR BODY MASSAGE OR IS IT JUST FOR THE PRIVATES??!?”
Last night I decided that I was going to get myself not one but two little pets in WoW and scored myself a Worg Pup and a Smolderweb Hatchling. Eddie and I hiked our way to Lower Blackrock Spire and managed to kill a lot of baddies and not die once, although there were a couple of hairy points where we were overrun with tiny spiders and it was so not cool. It was definitely nice to check out an instance that was once considered a really difficult place to go, since pretty much no one goes there anymore. I’m also considering going out and taming myself a Ghost Saber for a pet, but to level that thing from 20-70 will suck all sorts of ass and I can’t see myself with the attention span for it. But then again, who knows what I could do.
Today is painting day. We’ll be hitting up Walmart for some paint and then going to someplace else to get some knobs for the doors because I’m determined that we will finish this kitchen. The plan is that we’ll pick up some light blue and some creamy white and get working on the bedroom and the living room, providing we can freely move about the bedroom. We definitely need to look into some better lighting in the apartment because some of those little lamps just won’t cut it in the winter when it’s dark for most of the day. I’m not sure what we’ll be doing later tonight, since who knows how long we’ll stay at my mom’s.
Tomorrow is Eddie’s birthday and I haven’t bought him anything yet, mostly because I’m a terrible wife and have no idea what the hell to buy him at all. He wants to go to the flea market, and hopefully my body won’t rebel against this and I won’t be running to the bathroom every 10 minutes while we’re there, because damn it all, I like looking at flea market junk just as much as the rest of my family.
Our back door is currently unlocked. In fact, it doesn’t have a lock. It doesn’t even have a fucking doorknob at the moment. Comrade came down this afternoon and painted it, so it’s open and drying for the entire night. This isn’t very fun, because tomorrow neither of us will be home to make sure he doesn’t poke around in here. Adding to the list of assinine bullshit this man has spewed from his mouth is his comment that we waste time on our computers and that we should take a weeklong vacation because he wants to come in and paint the rooms and work on some of the molding in the bathroom. He’s also annoyed that none of our windows had the mysterious serial numbers that he was looking for; the seals in his are leaking and he’s getting condensation between the panes, and I guess he needs the serial numbers for some reason but none of the windows in the house have them. Tough shit for him.
Aside from the Polish invasion today has been pretty normal. It’s been raining so there’s no drive-in plans for us. We drank a pot of coffee then switched to tea because we had no more sugar. Eddie made a pot of Kraft dinner for lunch and we ate that while playing WoW. We’ve finally hit level 40 and gotten our mounts, and we’re actually about halfway to 42 right now. We did a bunch of grinding and questing this afternoon, and maybe we’ll do some more tonight. We went to Pizzeria Uno for dinner, stopped at WalMart to buy some new bulbs for the truck’s head and tail lights and new wipers, then went to Petco to play with the ferrets. I can’t believe how tiny Pickle is compared to the ones they’ve got there. Eddie said that if we were in a new place we’d have taken one of them home with us.
I talked with my Dad this morning. He invited us down for a cookout this week at his house, which is cool. I did tell a tiny lie to him when he asked what I was doing, I told him I’d just gotten out of bed, but didn’t reveal that I was sitting on the toilet. Some things a father just doesn’t need to know.
The weekend was nice and relaxing. Any weekend where we can stay in bed an extra hour or three and hang out in the living room playing WoW all afternoon is a good weekend in my book. We crawled out of bed at about 9am and drank coffee and played a bit of WoW, finally making it to level 37. I broke the 300 gold mark on my character, which makes me quite happy; I’m all set in 3 levels to buy my mount and then keep saving for gear, skills, and other assorted neccessities in the game. Like another pet slot so that I can tame a giraffe. I’m also in dire need of another bank slot because I’m a freaking pack rat with a bankful of things that I can’t use at all right now, but might be able to get use out of later. Another thing that I can’t wait to do is hit level 40 and do my crafting quest.
We went to the drive-in on Saturday night. We left the house and drove up to Cumberland to get big sandwiches, cash, and some snacks. We brought lawn chairs to sit in, but ended up just folding down the back seats of the truck and curling up in the back with pillows and a blanket. It was super comfy, which completely made up for the fact that Spiderman 3 bit the big one. It was way too long, drawn out, and I’m sorry, but I’d could have done without the wrestling with the personal demons thought the whole thing. None of the villains were very good, and the Gwen character was really, really pointless. And what Spiderman movie would be completely without Kirsten Dunst dangling from the air? They may as well just start titling the rest of the series Mary Jane vs. Gravity 4. The second half of the double feature was Ghostrider, which we left 45 minutes into because we’d seen it before, and it wasn’t much better on the big screen (we’d already seen a pirated copy on DVD).
Yesterday we went to Mom’s house. I had hot wings for lunch, read my book, and then picked up Eddie from work. We rented Deja Vu over there which was sooooo much better than everything else we’d seen over the weekend. Today we both worked, and we were both busy, so we’re eating sausage sandwiches for dinner and then going into the bedroom to watch TV for the rest of the night like the lazy slobs we are
Ah, Humpday. The day we love. Half the work week over. Not that I work right now anyway, but in 2 weeks I’ll be back in school. Gimme a week, I’ll be scarfing down Pepto and Immodium like Tic-Tacs to avoid the dreaded Digestive-System of DOOOOOM that seems to get even worse when I’m nervous.
I’ve been attempting to fix Eddie’s issues updating WOW on his computer, but I don’t appear to be helping anything. If I had his install disks I’d reinstall from scratch while he’s not home to get frustrated by it, but I can’t find them. His computer is quickly going down the shitter, so I’ve been scouring ebay for a new system for him. I think the main issue with his computer is the hard drive corrupting shit, which ends up fucking over everything. I’d buy a new computer for him, but we still need to take Pickle to the vet for her shots and a checkup, and god knows how much that will be.
While I was working on the PC in the man-cave, I came out into the living room to get some tissue and found Pickle sitting right on the top of her cage, right in the middle of it. She gave me a look that said “Yeah, i’m on top, what are you going to do about it?” I took that as a hint that she wanted to get in (even though her little door was open) and put her back inside. She’s sleeping right now.
Now? It’s shower time, and time to put a new trashbag into the bin so that I can clean the tissues off my desk again. Eddie picked up some more stuffing for me, so I can work on some monkeys this afternoon, which I’ll probably do after I eat.
