A Little About Me...

I'm just a 31 year old chick from Rhode Island, married to a Canadian, tattooed, childfree, and a World of Warcraft addict. I fancy myself a photographer, or an artist, but who am I kidding - I count pills and sell drugs to junkies.

Disclaimer

I write about everything. If you don't like it, if it's too personal, if you don't want to hear it, if it offends you, if it's about you, I don't care.

I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control, and at times hard to handle, but if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.

End of the Week

Eddie and I are going to a wedding for one of his coworkers tomorrow night. It’s an evening wedding, starting at 5pm, which means we’re not going to be home until late. To celebrate the wedding, we hit Target last night after work, where we proceeded to pick up some new duds for each of us, then to Payless for some shoes. Eddie got himself some new pants, a shirt, and a tie (he looked damned hot with the suit jacket too, but we just couldn’t see shelling out another $60), and I got some fancy new pants, a vest, and a skirt. Eddie claims the pants make me look skinnier; I think they just make me look taller because they’re a bit long, thus making my legs look longer. I’m thinking of going back to Target to return the skirt tomorrow, since it’s longer than I’d like and doesn’t look fantastic on me. I’m debating about the vest since it’s probably not something that I should wear without a shirt on under it, and is slightly on the big side, and I’m not sure how I feel about a black and gray outfit for a wedding. It’s times like these when I wish I knew how to make simple alterations, then I’d make the vest a bit more fitted rather than the blocky way it fits now (that’s the problem problem with big boobs and a smaller tummy, nothing fits right). Either way, we planned on going to mom’s to get ready (or at least stop in and show her how nicely we clean up), so I might get Eddie to stop at the store on the way down. Tonight I’m going to try to hem the pants a little, I just need to find some gray thread.

We finally finished shopping at around 7:30pm and by that point we were hungry (I hadn’t eaten anything more than a handful of cheese-its at lunch and had nothing to drink all day), so we headed homeward and snagged dinner at the Ground Round up the street. The food was decent, as usual, and they had a couple of young guys playing guitar up at the bar area, and they weren’t half-bad. I managed to not eat everything on my plate, so I’ve got some lunch for today.

I have no idea what RPh I’m working with on Sunday. I hope it’s a decent one, shitty pharmacists make the afternoon suck. I’m hoping that I can get a decent one who won’t care if I leave early, since we’re supposed to be going to Mom’s house for dinner. I know I plan on bringing either a book or a bunch of yarn, since I do not want to be subjected to another mindnumbing afternoon of Nascar.

Holiday Festivities

Well, it’s the holiday weekend, that’s for sure. The frequent-flyers are trying to get as many drugs as possible for their festivities. Such as this women:

her: I lost my whole bottle of Seroquel (an antipsychotic/mood stabilizer known for hallucinations) that I just got filled last Thursday, and I need more.
me: [looks up her info, discovers she's one of our regular frequent-flyer, talks to the RPh about her, finds out a replacement script will be about $500 because her insurance won't cover lost drugs]
RPh: Tell her she’s going to have to sell a lot of her ocycontin to be able to afford to replace her script.
me: We could refill it for you, but you’d need to pay cash because you’re insurance won’t cover lost prescriptions.
her: I can’t afford to pay cash! [much whining] Is my oxycontin ready to be filled yet?

She wasn’t happy when I told her that her oxycontin couldn’t be filled until Thursday at the earliest, either, and she sounded like she’d taken more than he prescribed dosage of her Percocet too.

While I was at work, Eddie made a shopping list, and so I came home, checked emails and feeds, and we headed out to pick up some food. In addition to most of the stuff he had on the list (I crossed off “snacks” and “chips” because we’ve got plenty of snacky things here, and skipped the bread and sliced meats because I rarely make sandwiches for lunch), we got hamburgers and rolls, some bottled water for me, canned peaches and a bunch of those 100 calorie snack packs for me to bring to work for lunch. Then we came home, and Eddie cooked up some cheeseburgers with bacon.

Tomorrow we both get to go to work early. Eddie starts his new schedule, going back in at 7am, and I go in for 9am because the other Monday tech has the day off. At 6pm I get to go down to Coventry, we have dinner at Mom’s, then come home and pick up Pickle and bring her down to Mom’s house for the night, so she’s not stuck in her cage in the heat for 2 days straight.

Tuesday is the Bristol parade, where we will undoubtedly take a lot of pictures between the two cameras, possibly get sunburnt (depending on how well the super-sunscreen we bought will work), and cook something on the grill when we get back to Mom’s. Sounds like fun, eh?

I sound my barbaric yawp over the rooftops of the world

When the alarm clock went off at 4am today, I was already awake. I hit the snooze button to try to squeeze those last precious moments of sleep out of the morning, unsuccessfully I might add. This week is another week of overtime for Eddie, and since the employees seem to be more productive when they’re not being harassed by throngs of eldery wanting to know where they can find the creamed corn or complaining about how back in the old days they could buy a can of coffee for a quarter, everyone is going in at 5am rather than 7am. The extra money will be helpful, considering we went and bought food tonight and spent about double what I expected to pay, but the effects getting up that early has on us sucks.

I got to school only to discover that I had a test today. This was the one test that I took where I firmly believe that I sucked hard at it. I haven’t gotten the grade back, but I know that it wasn’t up to par with the other ones that I’ve taken. I’ve also got a midterm on Thursday that will also give me a run for my money. Sounds fun, eh? I’ll probably actually study for this one.

Humpday Postings, resolution, school fun

Out teacher made it into class today, albeit with a red, tissue-worn nose. We handed in our papers (my report on hypertension, wittily named Hypertension, got an A+) and took our tests on the central nervous system (1 point shy of a perfect score), then spent a while reviewing for our final exam tomorrow. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear as though we’ll be getting the 3-day weekend we wanted to get this week, which is sucky, but nothing to get worked up over; I just won’t get an extra day to sleep late this week. thankfully I’ve got a teacher who has a sense of humor during the times when my mouth fires off something before my brain can say “shut the fuck up!” and we have exchanges like this in the classroom:

Wendy: *coming back into the classroom* It smells like Italian out there!
Teacher: Italians?
Me: Like, greasey with bad colonge?

I’m completely thrilled that NBC has decided to bring back all the comedies and put them on one night. I’m so completely sick of reality shows and dramas and it’s great to finally have some sitcoms on again. There’s only so many episodes of Superfantastic Partner-Swapping Nannies and Trading Apprentices that a person can handle, y’know? So tomorrow night we’ll be eating something yummy while watching funny shows on the tube.

We went out tonight and grabbed food for the next few days: meat and rolls for steak sandwiches tonight, beef and pork chops and hot dogs for later this week. We also bought a 12-pack of ramen noodles for $1. At least we know we’ve got what I consider to be emergency rations when money starts to get really tight this spring.

And while on the subject of money being tight, in case anyone is wondering, it looks as though we’ve got tuition covered on our own for this month and after that we’ll be borrowing some from family in order to keep on top of rent, utilities, and tuition. The plan for now is this:

  1. end of April - finish school and start working in a pharmacy, preferably closer to Mom (back in the Warwick area most likely)
  2. look for an apartment in Warwick - apartment complexes more likley to have heat/hot water included, eliminating one potentially massive bill we’d be paying
  3. make sure all utilities are paid off at same time we move
  4. start paying back family

Those are my resolutions so far, in addition to the ever-present “lose some more weight” and “try not to be a complete bitch so often”.
