A Little About Me...

I'm just a 31 year old chick from Rhode Island, married to a Canadian, tattooed, childfree, and a World of Warcraft addict. I fancy myself a photographer, or an artist, but who am I kidding - I count pills and sell drugs to junkies.

Disclaimer

I write about everything. If you don't like it, if it's too personal, if you don't want to hear it, if it offends you, if it's about you, I don't care.

I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control, and at times hard to handle, but if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.

Break time!

After getting not one but two notes from the maintenance man about how we’re not supposed to have an a/c in the bedroom because it’s a fire hazard in the window and could leak into the apartment downstairs (don’t get me started on my dislike of having to remove the a/c), and with the forecast for the rest of the week looking hotter and more humid than ever this year, we broke down and brought the fuzz-butts to Mom’s house. They’re in the new place where it’s cool, with the a/c and Mom checking on them (although Chaucer does have the option of going up stairs). We’re gonna go over there tomorrow and visit and possibly bring some boxes over.

Sunday we’ll be having loads of fun packing up the truck and unpacking it. With any luck it won’t be a difficult move and we’ll get everything done in a minimal amount of time. The living room is done. Aside from the piles of clothes all over the place, that is, but they’ll be shoved into bags tomorrow. The bedroom is done as well (I think), leaving just the kitchen that needs to be cleaned out. Woohoo! We’re almost done!

Now if only this heat would let up, since it’s currently about 90F out there at the moment.

Moving on….

We’re in the process of packing up the last of the stuff that we plan on taking to the new place. Eddie and Brian are picking up the Uhaul truck tomorrow morning, and we go to pick up the keys around 9:30am. Over the weekend we picked up some new towels and plates at Target and some decorative things at Newbury Comics for the living room. We packed up the bedroom and the spare room is as clean as it’s going to ever be. We’re going to pack up the kitchen and the remainder of the bathroom. Eddie has the rest of the week off to take care of unpacking and setting up the new place, and he says that if I’m really good we’ll go out and get a kitten on Friday or Saturday.

Family is doing fine at the moment. The whole family seems to be rallying around Nanny, who doesn’t seem to be in much pain and just hopes she’ll manage to stick around long enough to see some football games.

I’m not sure when I’ll be posting again after tonight. We’ll be disconnecting the computers tonight and won’t have net access until I call the cable company and have things switched tomorrow (I don’t want to do anything utility-related until I have those new apartment keys in my hands).

bleh feeling

I haven’t been in the greatest of moods lately. I chalk it up to PMS and the seeing the horrible, naked (literally) truth about Nanny’s condition this week. Wednesday I drove down in the afternoon to take her for a chest x-ray and got to see exactly what’s happened to her over the past couple of months. She can’t walk more than a few steps at a time; I honestly have no idea how she makes it up the stairs to my mother’s half of the house on a daily basis. We used the wheelchair to get her from inside the house to the truck. It took all her energy to change into the smock for the x-ray, and when she was getting dressed again she decided that her bra was just too much effort to put back on. She’d put off getting the x-ray for some time now, because it can confirm just how bad the cancer is; no one wants to know that they’ve got a chestful of cancerous cells in addition to the ones in her bone, breast, colon, liver, and lymph nodes.

I can’t stand to see her like this. Her skin just literally hangs from her, and between the chemo and the cancer itself she’s being eaten alive inside. It hurts to see her struggle for every step, or to see her eat nothing but a few bites of salad and a couple of pieces of meat for dinner. I absolutely hate seeing her in pain like this.

On a lighter note, because if I keep writing like this I’ll be crying all day, Eddie and I have started looking at apartments. We’re hoping to move out ASAP because I just can’t stand living in a place where I’ve conditioned myself to tiptoe through the house in order to mask my presense and lessen the chances that the landlord will find some reason to come down and ask questions. Eddie’s calling on a couple of places today, and I’m calling on a couple if I can ever find the phone numbers.

Moving Plans

A Sunday like any other, with the exception of the fact that we cleaned up a bit. Eddie went through the spare room and emptied out a bunch of boxes/totes, and now we’ve got 1 pile of clothes to keep and 2 piles of things to throw out. I’m going through the pants and things and making skirts from jeans and shorts. Whatever ones are too small will get sold.

Like he says, the big fridge will get left here, same with the kitchen set (the table and chairs came with the apartment, and Mom has one ready for us when we move out). The big couch also came with the house, so that’s staying as well. The loveseat and chaise are at least 20 years old (my dad got them when I was 15 from a friend who redecorated his house every few years or so, so I estimate they’re about 20 or so), complete crap at this point and would be horrible to try to get out of here because they’re big and bulky and have no way to hold onto them (no feet). The bureau comes with us, as will the computer desks, bookcases, TV stand, and coffee table. There’s a desk in the bathroom that I’m undecided on, and a cheap dresser Eddie bought that I’m not fond of because the drawers don’t work very well.

Tomorrow (technically today, thanks to the Spring Ahead deal) I’m going to East Providence to do some training and hand over the animals. Then I pick up Eddie, and we stop to pick up some food for dinner, and have a good night in.

Hey Eddie, ya think we could make it a great night in with an encore performace of tonight’s activities?

A pretty good crowd for a Saturday.

()Just another dinner and a movie at Mom’s, where we had good spaghetti for dinner and watched a movie with full frontal nudity with my mother. I’m willing to bet that had Brian been awake while we were watching Waiting, my poor mother would be subjected to the penis-showing game the minute we left the house.

We had a discussion at dinner and on the way home about moving out asap. The plan is that we’ll start packing about a month before we plan to move, and then once we find a place, we’ll all get a few days off to move things out while Comrade and his wife are at work during the day. With the help of a Uhaul and a couple of days off, we’ll be moved out and be in a place where I don’t need to feel like my landlord is peeking in the windows anymore.

Had a good laugh over the last two days with WBRU’s April Fool’s prank where they announced they’d been bought and were changing formats. Yesterday afternoon they went off the air for a few seconds and were replaced by “Buddy FM”, which billed itself as “the station the whole family will love”, among other things. The format was what I described to Eddie as “Winamp on shuffle gone terribly wrong” and featured promos for the station between every song. Decent attempt at a prank, but the best part was all the people trying to analyze the meaning behind the song choices right from the first song, Ace of Base’s The Sign. Wikipedia had someone posting minute-by-minute updates of what was going on and what was being played. This afternoon Eddie said the afternoon dj was claiming the new company left the combination for the doors unchanged and he was gathering the rest of the BRU-crew to “take over”.

Oh well, we should be off to bed. I’m bitchy, and sitting here staring at the computer probably isn’t helping matters any.
