A Little About Me...

I'm just a 31 year old chick from Rhode Island, married to a Canadian, tattooed, childfree, and a World of Warcraft addict. I fancy myself a photographer, or an artist, but who am I kidding - I count pills and sell drugs to junkies.

Disclaimer

I write about everything. If you don't like it, if it's too personal, if you don't want to hear it, if it offends you, if it's about you, I don't care.

I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control, and at times hard to handle, but if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.

Kitchen Cabinets

Kitchen - almost done!
I’m on the fence about whether or not to do red or yellow knobs on the doors and drawers. Your thoughts?

Kitchen

We got an assload of work done in the kitchen today. We put another coat of yellow on the walls because there were some spots where even 2 coats of primer didn’t stop the wallpaper motif from showing through. We did the cabinet frames and the drawers all white. I filled some screw holes in the cabinet doors, sanded them down, then painted everything all white. We removed 2 pairs of sliding cabinet doors because it would have been impossible to paint them without resulting in the doors getting stuck shut, and it looks a lot better without them.

So the plans for next weekend are as follows:

  • paint the hinges for the cabinet doors
  • finish trim in kitchen
  • put the doors back up
  • paint the walls in the bedroom, providing that we can move things out of there
  • paint the living room if we can’t get things out of the bedroom

Over the sink

Not only can I make a sock monkey and assorted cute animals, but I’m a plumber!

I’ve been home for about 9:30 or so. I took my exam, and skipped at least 7 questions. I’m not sure how many points they each were worth, but I know that I completely nailed the 10-poiint extra credit questions, so that should make up for things a bit. On the way home I stopped and bought some Drano because the kitchen sink is clogged up.

The drain is unclogged, no thanks to the Drano. Drano got put in there when I got home - a double dose actually. An hour and a half later, I’ve still got two sinks filled with the nastiest water you’d ever see. Assuming it was grease from the number of times a month we have fajitas, tacos, or stuffed browned in oilive oil, we’d tried pouring boiling water into the sink last night, which did nothing naturally, since the hot water just comes right back up to the top. I ended up rigging my hairdryer under the sink, and turned it on high and faced the sucker right at the trap. And less than 3 minutes later, the drain gurgles and voila, everything goes down. I boil some more water while running the hot water, and put that down there for good measure.

Flaming: A play in 9 lines

The scene:
A badly wallpapered kitchen with very little counter and cabinet space. A man and woman are by the stove, fixing a dinner of steak sandwiches.

Woman: [slicing sandwich rolls] You want cheese in yours?
Man: [flipping Steak-ums in the frying pan] No thanks, I’ll put mine in when I get the meat cooked

Both go back to their chosen tasks for about 10 seconds, ad-libbing about spreading the mayo and cheese and hot sauce, until the grease in the frying pan spontaneously combusts and flames engulf the entire pan.

Woman: [nearly shitting bricks and envisioning the entire kitchen going up and having to explain that to the landlord] Put a lid on it! Put a lid on it!
Man: [frantically looking for something] What?! What lid!
Woman: Anything! Put something on it and it will go out!

The man grabs a lid from the crockpot and covers the frying pan. The flames go out and the two resume cooking.

Man: [offering the cooked meat] Ready for this one?
Woman: [holding out her roll] Yep. [arranges the sandwich meat] That’ll get your blood flowing, eh?
Man: [grabbing more meat and putting in the pan] It’s just fire.
Woman: It’s fire! In our kitchen! Where it doesn’t belong!

All exeunt.
