A Little About Me...

I'm just a 31 year old chick from Rhode Island, married to a Canadian, tattooed, childfree, and a World of Warcraft addict. I fancy myself a photographer, or an artist, but who am I kidding - I count pills and sell drugs to junkies.

Disclaimer

I write about everything. If you don't like it, if it's too personal, if you don't want to hear it, if it offends you, if it's about you, I don't care.

I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control, and at times hard to handle, but if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.

Warm for Fall

It’s very warm here right now, hovering at around 85F. Chaucer is sitting in the living room window watching the workmen install a new door on our building. Pickle is lounging her her cage, because the bedroom is cooler than the living room. I’m enjoying an entire afternoon of lounging in some sweats and one of Eddie’s wifebeater shirts, nice and comfy. I made a steak sandwich for lunch, and since I’m working tonight, Eddie is in charge of dinner tonight.

Neither of us has seriously sat down to play WoW lately. I logged in briefly earlier this week just to update the guild roster, and then today to download the newest patch. Between family issues, work, and just not being in the mood to do anything more than sit on the couch, watch tv and dvds, and crochet, my poor Onomatopoeia is languishing at level 54. I’ve got tomorrow off, so I might log in and just farm some leather or something mindless like that.

We bought season 1 of Dexter a couple of weeks ago, and whenever there’s nothing good on tv we’ve popped in a dvd and watched an episode or two. It’s pretty good, and we’re really enjoying it. Since I picked out this set, Eddie gets to pick out the next one we buy. This week starts all the network premiers, so that’s what we’ll be watching. Last night’s shows weren’t bad at all. Chuck was funny, Heroes was predictably cool, and while Journeyman wasn’t too bad, it was like Quantum Leap with a Blackberry instead of Al. I missed the premier of Survivor last week because I was working, which doesn’t bother me since the first episode is never very interesting to me anyway. This Thursday is CSI and ER premiers, which will be cool. We have our own little Casa McBride premier party here, snuggled on the couch with Chaucer trying to attack our feet.

The Itchy and Scratchy Show comes to Casa McBride

I’m allergic to something. We’ve yet to figure out exactly what the culprit is though. Saturday I was fine. Sunday I was fine until I got home, when I noticed that my wrists were slightly itchy and red, but I figured that was from playing with Pickle and the other animals at my mother’s house. I put some Calming Cream lotion on my wrists, took some Benadryl, and went to bed. Yesterday my skin rebelled against the mystery substance with a fantastic display of swelling and red blotches all over my boobs and down one side of my body. The itchiness on my wrists decided to stick around, leaving me with itchy forearms all day. By the time we’d gotten home from work it had spread down my chest, across my stomache, all over my lower back, and across the entire upper half of my thighs. It was not a pretty sight at all. Adding to the mix were several smaller splotches on my neck and around my mouth. We were debating at work about whether or not I had the plague or leprosy, and which customer(s) I may have caught it from.

Last night I managed to coat roughly half of my body with a mix of Benedry cream and hydrocortizone cream (with a little help from Eddie getting those hard to reach spots). I took a few Benedryl tabs for good measure and then went to bed after Heroes was over. In fact, I took more than the recommended dosage of the tabs in hopes that whatever allergic reaction was happening under my skin would stop and let me sleep, but I still woke up several times because I felt like I was sunburnt and covered in fire ants. When I did finally get up this morning, all the areas that we’d slathered with cream were back to normal. Unfortunately, all the areas that were normal when I went to sleep were red and itchier than hell.

I managed to get into the doctor’s this morning and was given about 4 scripts for the allergies. I’m still very itchy, but at least I’m not nearly as red as I was. Then we went to take Pickle to the vet’s office, and now we’re home. I called out because I looked like a freak, and now I’m pleasantly drowsy from the anti-itch drugs.

Tomorrow I get to register the truck, and then we get to go to my Dad’s for a cookout. With any luck we can get Pickle’s cage from my mother’s house after dinner, and get her settled back into the house.

Tuesday is Soupday

There was much snuggling last night and this morning. Last night we snuggled all during Heroes, at least until my back started to give me issues and I rolled over onto my side. This morning we snuggled while I dozed and Eddie watched the tv. It was fantastic, and it’s definitely one of the best parts of my Tuesdays with him. Plus, we get to go to Olive Garden and have soup and breadsticks for lunch.

Nanny seems to be doing well still. Adding to her new “to hell with it all” attitude and/or behavior: feeding the dog bacon from the kitchen table. She’s also asked my mother whether or not she would be able to get a Hummer in red. I’m not certain whether or not the Hummer is in addition to the sports car or in place of it.

Sunday the floater RPh didn’t show up until about 11am. One of our regular RPhs was called in 30 minutes after we were supposed to open; due to the fact that there is no security gate for our pharmacy area, we can’t open the store until there’s a pharmacist in there, so we had a crowd of people hanging outside the doors. Little old men were shuffling around on the sidewalk complaining about how they weren’t able to buy their newspapers right at 9am. People were not happy. We also got a complaint yesterday about how there wasn’t any store brand stool softener, and how that’s just not right.

Today I get to work my short shift, and tomorrow I get to do absolutely nothing, which is more than enough for me to do on my day off. I think I’m going to drag Eddie out to Newbury Comics to pick up some hair dye and then have him drop me off at work.

The one where I burn his scrotum

Yesterday morning I woke up with the most horrific backache I’ve ever experianced. I felt as though I had been beaten with a midget. Eddie rubbed me down with A535 and slapped one of those stick on patches onto me and we settled down to watch Heroes. With the exception of a mishap involving my mentholated back and his ballsack in the middle of the night, the night passed without any further back-related incidents. I’m still very stiff today, but nowhere near as bad as yesterday.

Today I go into work at 4pm and have tomorrow off, which rocks my socks off because I get to sleep late, something I didn’t get to do much this morning because someone in the bedroom was snoring. Thus far I’ve spent the entire day buck naked because I haven’t felt like getting dressed in anything yet. Unfortunately, I should go shower. We need to go out get something to eat, and I’m sure we’ll find something to amuse ourselves with between now and the time I have to go into work. With it finally warming up and being spring-like around here, I doubt that there’s going to be many people coming into the store for anything besides lawn chairs and coolers.
