A Little About Me...

I'm just a 31 year old chick from Rhode Island, married to a Canadian, tattooed, childfree, and a World of Warcraft addict. I fancy myself a photographer, or an artist, but who am I kidding - I count pills and sell drugs to junkies.

Disclaimer

I write about everything. If you don't like it, if it's too personal, if you don't want to hear it, if it offends you, if it's about you, I don't care.

I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control, and at times hard to handle, but if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.

I’m an aunt!

Blossoms
Just so much fun to do…. One of the dresses that I made for my new neice, Maddie.

I’m cold!

I was in luck yesterday - Sandy took in the shirt that majorly needed it. I’m not going to do anything with the blazer because like my other suggested, I might want to wear something bulkier than a dress shirt under it at some point. We did some laundry while we were over there, which was helpful.

We also got a new light for the license plate holder on the car, so I can stop freaking out about it.

This week I’m working all nights because of the vacationing tech. This means that Eddie will be eating dinner at Mom’s house all week except for Wednesday and Thursday, and I’ll be doing my typical 10pm foraging for something to eat. Thankfully I wasn’t roped into working any extra days this week (although I was volunteered for Columbus day next week because of my kidless status). I forgot to check and see if I’m still working a short shift tomorrow; I’m pretty sure that I still am which makes me happy, since I love my half-day of work followed by a day off. However, I’m completely pissed that I’ll be missing all the shows I usually watch: Heroes, Survivor, ER, and CSI (so if anyone can point me towards someplace to find the episodes, I’ll be very happy!).

Fashion Show? Not quite yet.

I just went and tried on all of my new clothes. As is typical for me, all the pant legs are a bit wide because I’ve got somewhat skinny legs compared to my wide hips and ass and have to wear a larger size than what fit my legs nicely. They’re also long, since I’m only 5′3″ (even the petites I bought were long!). I kind of figured that I’d be hemming pants this weekend anyway, so that’s really not too surprising; two out of the 3 pairs I bought will be hemmed, the others are some cargo pants that I can just tie up.

What was surprising is the fact that the shirts are all a bit big, and make me look very shapeless. And now that I’ve actually got some shirts that do have a shape to them, I want them all to fit well, so I think I’m going to take the whole batch of them, along with my box of pins, and get my mother or her friend Sandy to help me take them in at the waist a little bit. The hips are fine, and the bust is fine, but damn it, I HAVE A SHAPE AGAIN AND I’LL BE DAMNED IF I’M GOING TO HIDE IT.

Yes, that deserved capslock.

So here’s the run down of what I ended up getting, and what might end up getting done to it.

  • black blazer - completely new territory for me, but once it’s taken in a little it will look pretty sharp
  • white mock turtleneck sweater - not a bulky knit, a really thin, lightweight one
  • off-white lacey blouse with attached black lightweight sweater - looks better than it sounds, but the fit is a little off
  • purple/gray/blue/silver stripey blouse - definitely needs to be taken in, the stripes make me look even blockier than I actually am
  • wine colored blouse and tie - the tie is the exact same color as the blouse, and this blouse is the only thing that doesn’t really need to be changed at all. It’s fantastic.
  • charcoal gray/pinstriped tweed pants - they’ve got a very fine white and purple stripe running through them; they just need to be hemmed really, since I don’t know what they’d look like if I took in the legs a bit.
  • black pants - the legs are very wide (by design), but as Eddie put it tonight, I look like I could have homeless people living in them and never know it. Being short, I can’t do the whole ginormously-wide-leg-look very well, so I think that if I took them in a bit, they’d look a lot better. Note to self - wide leg pants need a fitted shirt in order to prevent me from taking on a Christmas tree shape.
  • a blouse in the most fantastic buttery-gold silk blend. It’s almost glittery, comes down to mid-hip, and it’s so nice. It will look better with jeans than with the black wide-legged pants I wore it with today though.
  • dark gray cargo pants - they fit great.

One thing that I find incredibly amusing right now. All the new pants are size 18, and everytime I go to put a pair on and get my legs in them but before I actually pull them up, they always look too small to me. I’m so used to seeing size 22 and 24 that my mind just doesn’t comprehend that I can fit into a smaller size.

Eddie is working his last overnight shift tonight. Tomorrow he goes back to his regular shift, and because one of the techs is on vacation (again) I’m working all closing shifts next week. At least I get my regular days off, though, and pick up an extra 4 hours. Plus, my raise went into effect with this last check, and I was pleasantly surprised at how much of a difference $.50/hour makes. Unfortunately, next week is the beginning of the month, which means it will be insane for half of my shifts, but after about 7pm things usually quiet down and I can stop dealing with the junkies (like the guy today who went through a month supply of Valium in 10 days).

$350 in clothes can fit in a relatively small box.

Yesterday it was insane at work. Considering that it’s the end of the month, we should be completely dead in there, since all the anal old folks who just have to get their drugs at the beginning of the month won’t be calling us until next week. But for some strange reason we were completely swamped in there last night. I’m not one to turn down extra hours, but when I was offered more to stay and cover for another tech (who didn’t want to come in at all) I refused. I was hungry and I tired of standing and wanted to see Eddie and Thursday night TV.

I was lounging in bed this morning at around 9am, wondering if I wanted to stay in there a bit longer or get up and surf the net for a bit, when the UPS guy made the decision for me by ringing our horrifyingly loud door buzzer and dropping off my package from Lane Bryant. I’ve yet to actually do anything more than open the box though.

I should probably go shower. I’ve got about an 90 minutes before I need to go searching for shoes and socks and my work essentials, and I want to try on my clothes to see if they all fit me nice. And then I’m going to eat something yummy for lunch.

End of the Week

Eddie and I are going to a wedding for one of his coworkers tomorrow night. It’s an evening wedding, starting at 5pm, which means we’re not going to be home until late. To celebrate the wedding, we hit Target last night after work, where we proceeded to pick up some new duds for each of us, then to Payless for some shoes. Eddie got himself some new pants, a shirt, and a tie (he looked damned hot with the suit jacket too, but we just couldn’t see shelling out another $60), and I got some fancy new pants, a vest, and a skirt. Eddie claims the pants make me look skinnier; I think they just make me look taller because they’re a bit long, thus making my legs look longer. I’m thinking of going back to Target to return the skirt tomorrow, since it’s longer than I’d like and doesn’t look fantastic on me. I’m debating about the vest since it’s probably not something that I should wear without a shirt on under it, and is slightly on the big side, and I’m not sure how I feel about a black and gray outfit for a wedding. It’s times like these when I wish I knew how to make simple alterations, then I’d make the vest a bit more fitted rather than the blocky way it fits now (that’s the problem problem with big boobs and a smaller tummy, nothing fits right). Either way, we planned on going to mom’s to get ready (or at least stop in and show her how nicely we clean up), so I might get Eddie to stop at the store on the way down. Tonight I’m going to try to hem the pants a little, I just need to find some gray thread.

We finally finished shopping at around 7:30pm and by that point we were hungry (I hadn’t eaten anything more than a handful of cheese-its at lunch and had nothing to drink all day), so we headed homeward and snagged dinner at the Ground Round up the street. The food was decent, as usual, and they had a couple of young guys playing guitar up at the bar area, and they weren’t half-bad. I managed to not eat everything on my plate, so I’ve got some lunch for today.

I have no idea what RPh I’m working with on Sunday. I hope it’s a decent one, shitty pharmacists make the afternoon suck. I’m hoping that I can get a decent one who won’t care if I leave early, since we’re supposed to be going to Mom’s house for dinner. I know I plan on bringing either a book or a bunch of yarn, since I do not want to be subjected to another mindnumbing afternoon of Nascar.
