After much annoyed grumbling and muttering under my breath last night, I managed to get WoW reinstalled on my computer and get it patched somewhat. I also found the interface that I used in the past, and will probably spend tomorrow trying to reaquaint myself with the controls. Eddie danced around, claiming he’d be a hero with our group of friends who have been begging him to get me to play again, but it’s still up in the air about whether or not I switch games. I fired up FFXI this morning and updated the latest patch for that as well and was able to successfully log in, so I guess whatever issue I was having the other day was just a fluke.
I’ve done nothing at all today except for chatting with people and reading blogs. Some normal people, and some freaks, but all interesting. I was pointed towards Assbaggery, which reads like something right out of my “freaks” category. Nothing like spending the morning listening to music and being comlpetely lazy.
I need to shower and find something to eat. I’m starving.
I’m looking for some good blogs and/or websites that are interesting/funny/thought provoking. Any suggestions?
If you’ve never visited Brandon’s page, One Child Left Behind, go now. You’ll thank me later.
I’m sitting here in work, do absolutely nothing for the next 3.5 hours. The store is somewhat busy, filled for the most part with babymamas and their screaming, undisciplined broods. Today seems to be “buy-your-spog-a-fish-day”, since I’ve heard the two cashiers closest to me give their standard warning to their fish-buying customers:
When you leave the store, hold the fish at eye-level because the security scanners will electrocute the fish and they’ll die.
A little part of me dies everytime I hear one of them say this to a customer. Apparently, this is the only Wal*Mart that gives this warning. No matter how often one of the other cashiers and I correct the others they continue to say it, training new register-jockeys to deliver the dire warnings as well, even when we point out that none of the petstores give the same warnings.
Eddie is at his store working the grill for a hotdog sale; he’s working until 4pm and scoring a midweek day off next with me this week. We’ll probably spend all day Tuesday playing FFXI.
Last night we dropped off some used phones at my manager’s store and chatted with the girls in there for a little while before walking next door to get some food for dinner. Neither of us wanted to cook, so we bought turkey and cheese and bacon and torpedo rolls to make grinders. The deli guy complimented me on my hair and told me that the salegirls at the phone store had no sales skills at all, and then offered to be my minion. There’s still rolls left, so we’ll probably have the same thing tonight.
While reading around today I discovered that I missed Blog-It-Forward day. I’ve recently trimmed my blogroll down considerably, so I don’t have many to really choose from, but I’ll pick 3 (in no particular order):
- Beauty Dish: I don’t remember exactly how I stumbled upon Birdie’s blog a year ago, but I instantly added her link to my page. She writes about things that will make you cry, then in the next post have you laughing until you’re crying again.
- Digital-Ed: He’d kill me if I left him off my list. He doesn’t post as frequently as he did when I first bought his domain as a birthday present in 2001, the first birthday present I ever gave him actually, but I still think that everything he types out is worth reading.
- Night Owl: Johnny Walker’s on a bit of a hiatus right now, and his blog is autoposting new stories and previously told (but nonetheless entertaining) posts. He’s always entertaining and definitely worth reading if you’ve got the chance.
