Yesterday was the blessed last day of the long work week. It was capped of with a bang when I dealt with a gentleman on the phone who wanted to know why he couldn’t just et a bag of Cialis instead of just 4 tabs at a time, because “it’s not like I’d be hurting anyone.” He also wanted me to fax his MD to see if we could get him a rx for Viagra instead because it works better for him. “Sure, it doesn’t last 36 hours,” he says, “but then again neither do I.” This was a fine way to end the week, especially considering that I got the crazy lube-lady’s questions about some Durex Tingle lube, where she came up to the register and loudly asked me (and pretty much anyone within earshot) “IS THIS STUFF GOOD FOR BODY MASSAGE OR IS IT JUST FOR THE PRIVATES??!?”
Last night I decided that I was going to get myself not one but two little pets in WoW and scored myself a Worg Pup and a Smolderweb Hatchling. Eddie and I hiked our way to Lower Blackrock Spire and managed to kill a lot of baddies and not die once, although there were a couple of hairy points where we were overrun with tiny spiders and it was so not cool. It was definitely nice to check out an instance that was once considered a really difficult place to go, since pretty much no one goes there anymore. I’m also considering going out and taming myself a Ghost Saber for a pet, but to level that thing from 20-70 will suck all sorts of ass and I can’t see myself with the attention span for it. But then again, who knows what I could do.
Today is painting day. We’ll be hitting up Walmart for some paint and then going to someplace else to get some knobs for the doors because I’m determined that we will finish this kitchen. The plan is that we’ll pick up some light blue and some creamy white and get working on the bedroom and the living room, providing we can freely move about the bedroom. We definitely need to look into some better lighting in the apartment because some of those little lamps just won’t cut it in the winter when it’s dark for most of the day. I’m not sure what we’ll be doing later tonight, since who knows how long we’ll stay at my mom’s.
Tomorrow is Eddie’s birthday and I haven’t bought him anything yet, mostly because I’m a terrible wife and have no idea what the hell to buy him at all. He wants to go to the flea market, and hopefully my body won’t rebel against this and I won’t be running to the bathroom every 10 minutes while we’re there, because damn it all, I like looking at flea market junk just as much as the rest of my family.
It’s hot and muggy around here, and it’s not at all comfortable weather. We had thunderstorms last night, which didn’t make things much better, but were certainly pretty to watch on the way home from Eddie’s birthday dinner at my mother’s house.
I was getting ready for work yesterday and debating about what shoes to wear. I thought to myself, Thursdays shouldn’t be that busy, I’ll wear my clogs instead of my sneakers. I neglected to consider that it was the first of the month and that every single old person in the area would be coming in for their meds. As an example of how busy it was, our store opens at 9am usually does about 150 scripts a day. By 11:30am we’d filled 70, and by 12:30 we’d filled about 95. I have no idea how many we ended up filling before I left, but my feet were quite sore. However, to cheer up the work crew, I’m bringing some of Eddie’s leftover birthday cake to enjoy.
Tomorrow we’ve both got the day off, and we don’t quite know what we’re going to do. It doesn’t look like it will be good drive-in weather, so Eddie said he wanted to catch a matinee. I also want to stop at Walmart to check out some yarn for an afghan I’ll be making this month. Yes, you read that right, I’m making an afghan in the middle of summer. I’m insane.
Wednesdays are my midweek day off from now on, and when I went to bed last night I was envisioning a full day of nothing but FFXI. Instead, I ended up pondering a new site design. I’ve been awake since about 7:30am, and what have I done?
- started working on graphics for new page layout
- amused the ferret
- showered with Eddie
- finished graphics and started wirking on the CSS part of new page, which was an utter bitch
- finished CSS and uploaded to Saidshe to and went live
- tweaked the fuck out of the menu in an attempt to get things lined up and functioning and displaying the way I wanted
- stopped fucking around with the menu long enough to post this
I’m quite proud of myself for this theme. It’s based off of someone else’s, which was also based on someone else’s theme, which I guess makes mine a 3rd generation layout. However, aside from some assorted Photoshop brushes that I downloaded ages ago from someplace I can’t remember anymore, I made the graphics myself, and there’s an assload of CSS changes. Nothing special, but I thought it was something cheery for the start of summer.
Tomorrow is Eddie’s birthday, and I’ve got no idea what to get him. That makes me sad. What’s also sad is that we want to go to the drive-in this weekend, but it’s not looking like it’s going to be a nice weekend, which sucks because I was really hoping to see X3.
And now that I’ve got all the designing out of my system for the time being, I’m going to go find myself something to eat.
We left the house on Saturday afternoon, packing up a load of laundry and stuffing the ferret in my purse, and headed down to Mom’s house. We expected snow, and being unsure of whether or not we were going to get a dusting or a massive amount, brought Pickle with us in case we ended up staying the night. By late afternoon they were forecasting at least 9″-14″ across the state, with some spots getting more and the promise of whiteout conditions, so we decided that we’d stick around for the night. Even though it wasn’t supposed to start snowing until midnight, it was supposed to be nasty all day Sunday, and Eddie’s mother was planning on calling that day to wish me a happy birthday and play a game of pass-the-phone with the rest of the family, and if we were at home she wouldn’t be able to talk to me, so we stayed over Saturday night. We ended up staying over there last night as well, because the roads were still nasty.
My birthday was fine. Danielle came by on Saturday night with birthday cards from her and Dad, and then we went over there for a bit and chatted with him and Grandma for a while and played with Dad’s absolutely adorable new Bichon puppy. Then we all went back to Mom’s and watched a movie, caught some of the Olympics, and went to bed. We had a mini-birthday celebration with my Fudgie the Whale cake (which was fucking delicious) and opened cards, and then Mom forgot to give me my presents (jammies and some boots) until Brian went to bed and found them on their bed.
Mom and Eddie went to work together this morning, Danielle headed out at about 7:30am, and since we couldn’t determine whether or not I had school, I stayed home. No one particularly wanted me to drive up there on the shitty roads anyway.
And now, after eating dinner at Mom’s again for the 3rd night in a row, we’re home, fat and happy, with Pickle completely worn out and curled up in her fleecey hammocks.
I finished the two kittens I’d been working on today. The smaller pink one is a a little less than an inch taller than a shotglass, and the white one is a little bigger than the pink. It should also be pointed out that the white one looks uncannily and unintentionally similar to The Brain.
We lucked out and didn’t watch 40 Year Old Virgin with Nanny. Instead we watched Brothers Grimm. And we had dinner, and discussed the fact that I wan a Fudgie the Whale ice cream cake and tacos for my birthday dinner. Only 15 more days and I’ll be 29. I’ll have to add more to the wishlist tomorrow, but for now it’s time to run off to the bedroom and have some snuggles.
