I got paid for my first amigurumi sale: Violet the kitten went to her new home last week. A classmate bought her for her daughter, who has since requested a pink kitten friend. With payment, of course. That’s another project for this weekend. I’ve also finished the pink bunny (which I’ve nammed Taffy) I was asked to make, the only thing left is to embroider the baby’s name on the back this afternoon (as of last week they weren’t sure what the name was going to be).
Pickle is pissed off that I put her back in the cage. We got through the same routine every afternoon. After being out for about an hour she begins to get crazy and obsessive and starts biting the gates or clawing the couch. At that point I put her back into the cgae, where she’ll get herself something to eat and go back to sleep. Unfortunately today she’s decided that she’s not very hungry and would rather just chew her way out of the cage. *sigh* I can’t wait to move out and into a place where she can free-roam around the house more than she does now.
Just when I thought that classes couldn’t get any more boring than keyboarding was, we’re dropped into “Data and billing”, which so far only seems to be a fancy name for “here - look up this drug”.
I finished the kitten for one of the girls at school. I’ve named her Violet, which is strange, considering she’s actually lilac in color. However, she’s cute, and I kinda like her. She’d not my color though; I prefer to have a deeper purple color. My teacher wants a llamma (so there’s at least two I need to make, right Anna?) for her daughter, who is in love with Napoleon Dynamite. Eddie wants a skunk.
And I have proof that my husband is crazy.

Um… yeah…. Because I will do anything for the love of Anne Geddes. *shudder*
The trip to the vet was fine. Pickle eagerly sucked down her medicine before we left, but it didn’t do anything to sedate her until about 5 minutes before we were seen, and even then it didn’t do much to her. She took her rabies shot like a champ, and the vet said she’s got the most adorable little black nose and cutest name. She also said she was a chunky ferret, tipping the scales at just over 2lbs.
We headed to Mom’s house from the vet’s, where she got to run around Nanny’s house where there’s nothing for her to really get into. Or so we thought, until she figured out how to get into the bottom drawer of Nanny’s massive antique desk. She also investigated every nook and cranny in the place, poking her head out every couple of minutes as if to say “get this dustbunny off my face!” Then she got to run around upstairs in Mom’s place, which she loved, and Tuffy (the dog) loved even more. Tuffy was very interested in Pickle, giving her the traditional ass sniffing, but Pickle completely ignored him after sniffing his face once. Then she spent the rest of the night curled up in the dog crate under a jacket while Tuffy sat at the door and stared at her, wanting her to come out and play. Mom held her and she snuggled right up to her, a sure sign that the combination of the Benedryl and busy day had completely worn her out, as she never sits still. She did manage to get enough energy on the way home to completely tears apart the inside of her carrier in attempts to get out.
Tomorrow is supposed to be fucking nasty out all day. Thankfully we’re no going anywhere, unless we hit the grocery store later in the afternoon. I’m going to dye my hair and play WoW and work on the monkey a bit, and maybe put on a movie or two. Eddie will sleep late. Sunday we’ll sleep late and go back to Mom’s.
The stepdancer monkey got her tail put on yesterday in anticipation of going to her new owner today, but Eddie forgot her here at the house. Once I run the dishwasher I’ll put her by the door in the kitchen for him to bring tomorrow. The Irish bride monkey is coming along. I sewed up all the pieces the other day and stuffed the body, and I just sewed up the monkeycrotch. Unfortunately I don’t have enough stuffing to fill the other bits today, but Eddie should be picking some up for me when he leaves work. This one takes more stuffing because the socks were wider and longer; the legs are about 8″ longer than any other monkeys I’ve made. I’ll have to modify the dress pattern a bit so that the skirt part is longer, otherwise the monkeygirl will be in a miniskirt for the wedding.
Once I get done with this one, I’m going to make an effort to get a bunch of the smaller ones made out of all the socks I’ve got stashed in the sock-bag. Expect to see more of my original smaller monkeys showing up online again. I definitely need to get myself something to store all my sewing shit in. I’ve got fabric, thread, pins, and socks all over the place. There’s bits on the couch, and bits in the bags. Everywhere.
Pickle, like all ferrets, seems to have this ability to sleep in any position at all and be completely comfortable. In this shot, she’s on her back, bent at a right angle, tail hanging off the edge of the floor she’s sleeping on. I managed to get some pretty funny shots of her playing around and sleeping today, which you can check out in the Pickle album.
Eddie’s vacation has officially started. He doesn’t have to be in for another 10 days. At some point this week we’re going go-cart racing, because I’ve never been, and he’s never been down here. I’d like to go to King Richard’s Faire, but I think with gas prices rising the way they are, we’ll nix that plan. I can be a saucey wench here at home just as well as I could be at the Faire. I know we’re tackling the mess of the kitchen, which shouldn’t be very difficult now that the dishes were done today (because Eddie is a wonderful husband and did them).
I checked out Lane Bryant and found myself two decidedly non-matronly bras for about $55, which wasn’t nearly as much as I was expecting to have to pay. Then again, they were on sale as buy one, get one half off. speaking of tits, Eddie just popped one of mine out of my shirt. Oh how the 6 people watching must have loved that.
