A Little About Me...

I'm just a 31 year old chick from Rhode Island, married to a Canadian, tattooed, childfree, and a World of Warcraft addict. I fancy myself a photographer, or an artist, but who am I kidding - I count pills and sell drugs to junkies.

Disclaimer

I write about everything. If you don't like it, if it's too personal, if you don't want to hear it, if it offends you, if it's about you, I don't care.

I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control, and at times hard to handle, but if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.

Upgrading Kiwi

At the time of this writing, there are two versions of Kiwi and two popular versions of Wordpress out there being used. And since a lot of people seem to be finally taking the plunge and upgrading their WP, there’s also a lot of questions on how to upgrade their Kiwi to match. Here’s a brief checklist of things to do:

  1. Backup your Kiwi templates: If you’ve made any changes to your theme, save everything in the root directory of the Kiwi theme folder. These are the things like sidebar.php, firstpost.php, style.css, etc.
  2. Backup anything you’ve put in /images: If you’ve made yourself a custom header or any other changes to the graphics, back those up as well so you don’t accidentally overwrite them.
  3. Backup some more: If you are using the meta and featured post features of Kiwi (and why wouldn’t you be?), download your metapics and featurepics folders (by default they are in your /plugins/kiwi folder).
  4. Upgrade Stage 1: Follow the directions for upgrading Wordress
  5. Upgrade Stage 2: If you followed directions properly, you should have deactivated your plugins prior to the WP upgrade. Do not reactivate your Kiwi plugin. At this point you can upload the Kiwi for WP2 files.
  6. Upload: Upload your original /images and template files to the Kiwi theme directory. At this time you can also upload your /featurepics and /metapics folders, only this time put them in the Kiwi theme folder instead of the plugins folder.
  7. Edit your posts: By default, the new version of the Kiwi theme will be looking for your featurepics and metapics in the theme folder, however your existing feature posts and any posts that used a metapic for the header will be looking for the image in your plugins folder. Just edit the posts and update the meta/featurepic settings so that you don’t end up with broken images.

And there you have it.
