We tried water and scrubbing, and while the topmost layer seems to come off easily in many areas (as demonstrated by the bubbling effect of putting primer on top of it), we're guessing that the lower layer is about 50 years old and it won't budge. What we're doing is priming everything, and I'll go over the bubbles later with a pin and deflate them and glue them back down. There's a few areas where stuff is just absolutely awful, and we'll cover those with pictures and a cork board. Fortunately there's more cabinets than actual wallspace :)

[...] Its been a busy week. We spent the last couple of days in our new basement apartment, cleaning and painting. Crystal did a great job of cleaning the master bedroom, and peeling the wallpaper from out of the kitchen. Crystal posted a few pictures of the place over on her blog, check it out.
I had the same problem with wall paper. I found a roller knife which made lots of shallow cuts in the wall paper than when I sprayed the liquid soap, it soaked through and disolved the glue. the wall paper scraped off easly with putty knife.

Hi Crystal! It's T's girlfriend/apprentice. Found your journal through a YouTube video that randomly popped up, of all things. Just wanted to say hello. Hope to see you and Eddie again sometime, I really loved meeting you guys last August. I miss the ferret, they're illegal in NYC!

I pretty much always end up working on my birthday. Oh how I long for my teen years when I could request that night off if I was working at the Little Caesar's that night.

Glad someone does. Apparently the folks on Livejournal were not amused in the least, and I was bombarded with messages along the lines of "it's a tragedy!" and "it's wrong to wish anyone dead!"
