Eddie has decided that rather than get another tattoo, he wants to buy a bookcase and an entertainment center as his anniversary gift. I think it’s a bit impersonal, I mean he bought me a ferret, and he wants a bookcase? *sigh* I told him that it’s his body and his present, so he can get what he wants, but I was hoping to get him something special. In my opinion furniture isn’t special, but whatever. He got his notice of action from INS/Homeland security last week, so he’s good to stay for another year. Naturally this makes us quite happy, and hopefully in a few months we get the notice that he’s good for another 10 years.
I started assembling the green and white monkey last night. The socks are awful to work with, since they roll up as soon as you cut them, and it makes it a pain in the ass to sew up. Plus, the actual foot part of the sock is slightly smaller and wider than the socks I usually work with, so the monkey has a much smaller body than some of the others i’ve made. Thankfully she didn’t turn out Eggbert-shaped though. Later today I’ll finish assembling things, and then next week I’ll start up on the dress. I need to find some newspaper to draw the pattern on, since it will be easier to work with than printer paper.
Pickle discovered her cam this morning. She was annyed that I hadn’t let her out of her cage yet - gods forbid that I check my email first - so she ran up to the fleecey-tube and attacked it, popping off the wide-angle lens and taking it into the tube with her. I moved the cam into a different corner shortly thereafter. Right now she’s sleeping in a hammock with her tail hanging out. It turned out that the cam I wanted to use for the cage was long enough to reach without needing an extension, which is good because I can’t see spending $30 on a 10ft cable. Not to mention that in 3 stores yesterday, we only found 1 USB a/a, everyone sells a/b cables, and they’re all about $27 and up. Oh, and the 16ft USB extension I was searching for last week? I found it. It was under my desk, hooked up to a disconnected USB/video adapter.
Tomorrow I get my hair cut, and since there’s nothing going on at the drive-in we’re hoping to hook up with a school chum and have cheap jello-shots. Yay!
I fell asleep during Conan O’Brien’s show last night, and Eddie wasn’t home yet; I did feel him in bed at one point though, so I know he did make it home. Today he’ll be leaving work whenever the inventory people count his department. He could be home now, he could be home at the normal time. We just don’t know. What we do know is that tomorrow he gets out at noon, which gives us plenty of time to get lunch and/or dinner before we go to the Journey concert. He also has Thursday off, and only works until 3pm on Friday. It’s a good schedule. Thursday we’re going to get my hair cut, because it desperately needs it, and later in the week we go and get my prescription filled.
Pickle has decided that since just climbing around the baseboard heaters doesn’t freak my out much anymore, she’ll wedge her ass underneath them. *sigh* Sooner or later she’ll be too big to do that sort of shit, and I won’t need to worry about it anymore. She’s also stolen a keychain out of my makeup bag - a heavy rubber one with a miniflashlight on the end. She’s got it in her cage right now, dragging it around on the plastic floor. Anything that stops her from chewing the bars is a good thing though.
The check we mailed out last week for Eddie’s new and improved greencard was cashed yesterday, so any day now we’ll hopefully get a notice that things are underway. Yay! I sent him a text message asking him to pick up a another USB cable so I can set up ferret cam. It pisses me off that I know that I’ve got 30ft of them in the house and have no idea where the fuck they ended up when I took down kitchen-cam.
It’s always an odd moment when you sit at your desk to write out a check made out to the US Department of Homeland Security.
However, with any luck Eddie will be able to get the paperwork out in the mail tomorrow afternoon, and we’ll get the ball rolling on renewing his greencard.
Yesterday we learned that the car does not like to be parked all day with the fans set to anything but “off”. I went outside after work and was greeted to a lovely dead battery. Thankfully I was able to get Mom to come and give me a jump. We promptly bought jumper cables an hour later. We also were going to buy a new newt, but the store we usually get them from was torn apart, and half the tanks of fish had at least 1 dead thing floating in it; the newt tank had at least 2 dead ones floating, and I think that several of them crouched in a corner were on their last legs as well. We’re going to check out another place this weekend.
Today is a busy day for us folks. In an hour I’ve gotta be at my exam for the security screener position, and at 2pm we’ve got to be at INS for our interview to prove we’re married and have a relationship (or havin’ relations, as Eddie Murphy would say). Lovely. Nothing like a nerve-wracking interview to set the bowels in motion. Break out the Imodeum, it’s going to be a rough day.
I guess that if I’ve got to be somewhere in an hour, I should probably get dressed, eh?
We waxed and buffed the car yesterday - it’s all shiny now. Eddie and Brian changed the air and fuel filters and the spark plugs and the wires. Next weekend theiy’rewe’re supposed to change the oil and all of the other oily stuff. We didn’t do it this weekend because Brian didn’t have a jack and the car is too low. We decided to hold off on getting a stereo for it until we see if one of the guys that Eddie works with can get one for us for nothing. Right now, we’re looking into getting a new transmissions asap, since this one seems as though it’s on its last leg (or gear, as the case may be), so the hunt is on for cheap labor and cheaper parts.
Gotta go to the pet store today and buy another newt. We noticed last week that one of ours is gone; we don’t know if he got out of the tank or died and the other one ate him.
We’ve got our INS interview on Wednesday. I’m nervous; I can’t imagine how Eddie must feel about it.
