A Little About Me...

I'm just a 31 year old chick from Rhode Island, married to a Canadian, tattooed, childfree, and a World of Warcraft addict. I fancy myself a photographer, or an artist, but who am I kidding - I count pills and sell drugs to junkies.

Disclaimer

I write about everything. If you don't like it, if it's too personal, if you don't want to hear it, if it offends you, if it's about you, I don't care.

I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control, and at times hard to handle, but if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.

Release Night and Vacation (Day 1)

My little Death KnightEddie and I have been up since about 9am playing WoW. This is nothing, since at Gamestop last night there was a woman there who was bragging about how she doesn’t work and does nothing but play WoW for at least 14 hours a day. The “release party” wasn’t too bad. We got there at about 10pm, showed our receipt for our 2 copies of the unspecial edition, and bought a strategy guide that came with a free bookmark. We also got a couple of hats because we got there early. Eddie got a cheeseburger. Over the next 2 hours people trickled in until there was probably about 40-50 people there. The girl with no life started trying to come up with what she thought were creative ways to get the store manager to give us our games before midnight. She also talked nonstop about the game, and how she had preordered 3 copies of the collector’s edition, one of which she’d sold to a friend for $250 (some friend, eh?).

Last night we came home, installed the game, and created our Death Knights. Eddie’s is a Tauren named Riggamootis (because he’s dead, and a cow, and IT’S FUNNY DAMMIT), and mine is a tiny little Blood Elf named Aldara. For those of you who aren’t in the medical business, Aldara is a cream generally prescribed for genital warts.

Today we’ve spent a lot of time questing. It’s very strange to not be the highest level in the game anymore. I’ve got shit attacking me left and right, and stuff can kick my ass again, and I’m dying because I do dumbass things like running into the enemy cities because I thought it looked like a place I should check out. All in all it’s pretty damned fun right now. :whee:

Another bleary weekend.

Seeing as today is Sunday and is my one day where I’m alone and can do whatever the hell that I want to do, I’m lounging in my comfy pants and a t-shirt. I did a bit of sewing on the nighty that my mother wants me to make for her, and I attempted to do a bit of maintenance with my Wordpress install and getting it to display my archives, but then decided that with the number of posts that I have it would be really impossible to get them laid out in a way where they’re not taking up 50 pages. I did some fixing on Eddie’s site as well, but unfortunately we won’t see if any of that worked until later tonight.

It’s been raining all day. I slept until about 10am and the rain was the first thing I saw. I decided that in honor of the dreary day I would download a pirated copy of American McGee’s Alice, which I played for a little while. Having never played it before, I spent the majority of the time getting frustrated with the controls. I may remap the movement controls to match what I use in WoW and maybe that will make things better.

Glass Crafts, Guild Fun

Sea Glass Pendants
It’s another lazy weekend here for us. Eddie is at work, I’m surfing the web, the usual Sunday activities. I’ve got to go out and get rent out, and I might stop for some Taco Bell while I’m out and about.

Friday at around 11pm I got it into my head that I wanted to go through the lamp full of beach glass that I think is nice, but tacky as all hell. I want to take some of the big pieces out and put them into glass jars with lights in them and make something interesting, but the smaller ones I’ve been wrapping with wire and using as pendants, possibly up for sale in the future.

And as a note to anyone wondering, 5lbs of beach glass makes more noise than you’d expect when pouring it out of a container.

Yesterday, Mom and I were going to get our hair cut. Mom had ended up calling ahead and getting me an appointment to get it dyed as well, so I’m now a redhead once again. I got it cut shorter as well, and it will look cute once I can work it the way that I like it. Yay for red hair!

I hate to say it since my former guild was such a fantastic group of people, but the new guild we’re in completely rocks. Eddie and I have gotten to do more in the 2 weeks with them than we’d done in the last 6 months with the other guys. I didn’t suck too badly in our Kara run the other night, and I also managed to get 3 new pieces of gear out of the deal. So it was with a bit of pleasure that when Eddie and I were invited along for the old guild’s attempt at Kara the other night, we could say “No thanks, we’ve already gone this week and can’t.” They never did manage to get enough people to do it.

Look! I’m posting about work! and WoW!

Supertech is on vacation this week, so I’ve been covering her shift. So far it’s been ok; Monday was fine, Tuesday we were running around, and today went pretty well. We managed to score ourselves a tech from a Maine store who’s not half bad, smells really good, and has all the front store cashiers swooning over him. He’s totally what I’d have gone after 10 years ago - that sort of cute but dorky type. You know, the type of guy just like Eddie. The RPh wasn’t bad today. I’ve got another 2 days of working with her though, without the A-Team of me and Supertech, so we’ll see what she’s like on Friday when she’s had to not only take it upon herself to correct every single thing that the other techs do but deal with her least favorite tech tomorrow night and the other things that drive her crazy. I could tell some stories, but I’m sure if she just Googled me she’d be able to find me without any trouble, so I’ll keep some stories to myself :)

We’ve been living here a month now, and so far things aren’t bad. I don’t freak out about every little creaking sound from upstairs like I used to do when Comrade moved around upstairs in Pawtucket, which is something that I was a bit worried about. We’re definitely eating better because Mom cooks us actual food, and we’ve been taking lunches to work (although I do get myself a #6 at Wendy’s once a week). Moneywise we’re doing ok so far. Eddie goes to work with Mom so we’re not making an extra work trip any longer, and the commute for me is only about 5 miles more than it was before. I have to get up a few minutes earlier to get to work on time, but it’s not that bad in terms of what we spend on gas - I put 10 gallons in today and it will probably last me until next Tuesday or so.

And those of you who don’t play WoW or don’t care either way can just skip this stuff. Eddie and I decided to take the plunge and leave our cushy little officer positions in the guild we were in. It was a tough decision; we’d been there since the guild was formed and had watched it grow from a handful of players to a pretty big guild. However, over the past few months it had really gone downhill, especially after the originally guild leader had left. Any time anyone had tried to set up anything, half the people who signed up wouldn’t show up, and the ones who did would wander on an hour after things got started at times. Eddie and I got tired of being considered 2nd string players and never, EVER getting invited to anything even though we’d made it quite clear that if we’re not on and someone wanted to do something we’re a text message away. For those of you who actually play and understand what I’m talking about, our guild managed to get into Kara as a guild once. Eddie and I were in there that time, and that was the only time we’d ever managed to get in, because no one ever thought to extend an invite to us. We were the guild bench warmers.

So this week we jumped ship and applied at a very large guild that has more organization than I’ve ever experienced, which is something that they’d need with something like 400 players (compared to our paltry 40) and something like 4 Kara runs going on at the same time every week just to farm badges, in addition to the extra ones that people organize on the fly during the week for folks who missed out and the bigger raids going on doing the 25-man instances. It’s quite the change, and really going to force me to totally go outside my comfort zone and actually talk to people. People that I don’t know. Thankfully, they seem like a cool bunch of people so far, and I’m looking forward to signing up for a run next week.

Be nice to the girls in the white coats.

Today was insane. The people just never stopped coming into the store, and each one had something different to complain about. They can’t write on the electronic signature pad. They’ve got a rash, and can someone look at it. They’ve had this prescription for a narcotic in their purse for 2 months and even though it was only good for 30 days, could we break the law and fill it anyway. They can’t take 1 single 200mg pill because it makes them crazy, but they can take 4 50mg tabs just fine, and can we call the doctor to get it switched (why, so we can just give you 120 tablets for you to trade for percocet?). We did have some fun trying to figure out how long the prescription for the condoms last week was supposed to last (so insurance can determine if it’s too soon to refill) and came to the conclusion that 24 condoms should last 24 days, because if none of us were getting it every single day, then there was no way in hell we were going to let some 15 year old crazy chick get it every day.

This is why you don’t piss off your pharmacy staff. You won’t get as much sex.

Eddie and I got to play some WoW last night and actually managed to do some productive playing, if you can call trash talking with other people and killing people in a virtual world “productive” at all. There’s plans to do more this week, and we’re trying to convince the current guild leader to not change the guild’s name to something completely retarded.
