A Little About Me...

I'm just a 31 year old chick from Rhode Island, married to a Canadian, tattooed, childfree, and a World of Warcraft addict. I fancy myself a photographer, or an artist, but who am I kidding - I count pills and sell drugs to junkies.

Disclaimer

I write about everything. If you don't like it, if it's too personal, if you don't want to hear it, if it offends you, if it's about you, I don't care.

I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control, and at times hard to handle, but if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.

I’m an aunt!

Blossoms
Just so much fun to do…. One of the dresses that I made for my new neice, Maddie.

Holy shit! I forgot a title!

I’m feeling better, thanks for asking. My nose seems to have finally started to dry out, I’m on the last day of my period, and I only seem to have a cough at the end of the day. Eddie’s been bargaining with me to get me to take the Buckley’s, the most vile substance known to mankind, as well as giving me a liberal coating of Vapo-Rub before bed, which is not nearly as sexy as it sounds. Yesterday I spent the majority of the day on the couch, curled up under a blanket, watching the BBC America channel all day.

Unfortunately, Supertech is still sickly with a fever. Poor girl. She needs a guy to rub her with Vapo-Rub I think. Preferably a non-freaky guy.

I should get dressed. Today we’re expecting to get some rain from Hanna, and we still need to go out and get some groceries and things for this week. I’d like to play a bit of WoW perhaps, and work on my crochet a little bit. My current work in progress is making one of these in various shades of green and blue. It’s worked from the inside out to the edges, and so far I’ve managed to get the two inside rounds and a few diamonds on the third round.

I’d also like to check out the tattoo shop up the street from here and see if they’ve got any sort of portfolios in the shop so I can check out what they can do. With any sort of luck we’ll have our check from the old apartment this week and can start working on more ink, so I’d like to check these guys out and see what they think they can do to fix my chest piece.

Glass Crafts, Guild Fun

Sea Glass Pendants
It’s another lazy weekend here for us. Eddie is at work, I’m surfing the web, the usual Sunday activities. I’ve got to go out and get rent out, and I might stop for some Taco Bell while I’m out and about.

Friday at around 11pm I got it into my head that I wanted to go through the lamp full of beach glass that I think is nice, but tacky as all hell. I want to take some of the big pieces out and put them into glass jars with lights in them and make something interesting, but the smaller ones I’ve been wrapping with wire and using as pendants, possibly up for sale in the future.

And as a note to anyone wondering, 5lbs of beach glass makes more noise than you’d expect when pouring it out of a container.

Yesterday, Mom and I were going to get our hair cut. Mom had ended up calling ahead and getting me an appointment to get it dyed as well, so I’m now a redhead once again. I got it cut shorter as well, and it will look cute once I can work it the way that I like it. Yay for red hair!

I hate to say it since my former guild was such a fantastic group of people, but the new guild we’re in completely rocks. Eddie and I have gotten to do more in the 2 weeks with them than we’d done in the last 6 months with the other guys. I didn’t suck too badly in our Kara run the other night, and I also managed to get 3 new pieces of gear out of the deal. So it was with a bit of pleasure that when Eddie and I were invited along for the old guild’s attempt at Kara the other night, we could say “No thanks, we’ve already gone this week and can’t.” They never did manage to get enough people to do it.

Flushmount just sounds dirty.

We worked more in the new place yesterday. I managed to get all but two of the cabinet doors up, and those last two doors can’t go up until I paint them (they weren’t painted with the rest of them because I couldn’t get the door handles off). We got a lot of the bedroom done, and we’ll probably need to do another coat on the whole room before we do the trim and stuff because there’s some really obvious uneven spots in the dark blue and the light blue will need a 2nd coat anyway. While I was putting up the cabinet doors yesterday I found two cans of bright sky blue enamel spray paint, so I used that on the door knobs on the bedroom door and on the heater vents. They’re all purty now. I spent some time last night on Lowe’s website looking at potential lighting for the bedroom, because the ceiling light in there now is awful. You can sorta see the “beams” in this picture, at least one of them is a heating duct. They both jut out about 8″ from the ceiling, and the light we’ve got in there now is mostly blocked by the ducts. I’m looking at getting either a pendant light with a short chain (otherwise Eddie will be constantly smacking his head on it) or something like this that will hang down a bit more than the typical flushmount light.

Eddie’s coming home at lunchtime so that I can take the truck and hit the fabric stores for curtain materials. I’ve never made curtains before, so this should be interesting. I’m bringing my sewing machine to Mom’s so that I can work on things over there while Mom and Brian are off in Florida next week and we take care of their animals, since we won’t have access to WoW for something like 10 days. This is also a sort of trial run where we get to introduce Chaucer to the other animals, which will also be interesting.

I’ve got paint all over me.

This afternoon we went to 3 different craft stores trying to find something very specific (I’ll post pics of it after tomorrow). We wandered around these stores trying to find this very small, inexpensive bit, hunting through every section and asking for help, and do you think anyone had one of these things? Hell no. Naturally, we’re walking all through these places and Eddie is saying “This is just your way of getting to go into craft places, amiright?”

And naturally, my response was “HELL YEAH I WANNA STICK AROUND HERE IN THE SCRAPBOOK AISLE WITH THE SOCCER MOMS AND OLD LADIES NOW GO FIND ME 10 POUNDS OF BABY BLUE STOCKING WEIGHT YARN MOFO”. Then I bitchslapped him and called him a filthy whore.

We started the major painting in the new place this afternoon, with Eddie putting a coat of yellow on the kitchen walls and me putting blue in the bedroom. I pulled down cabinet doors and took off hinges while Eddie primed the cabinet areas and the drawers, then I took all the doors out to the driveway and primed them because not only were they all a dirty off-white color but they were filthy as all hell with stuff that just would not have come off (just really worn looking discoloration) and would not have looked good with just white paint on them. Tomorrow Eddie’s going to put a 2nd coat of yellow on the walls and prime a few spots that really need it while I put a 2nd coat of blue up and do the windowed wall blue as well. Then I’ll bring all the kitchen doors back out to the driveway and paint them white while Eddie does some trim and things inside.

I was pulling down the cabinet and drawer fixtures and wondering whether or not they’ll look good once everything is painted. At one point they were chrome, but now they’re that old chrome/slightly rusted out style - think old car bumper - and while you didn’t notice it too much with the grungy cabinet doors, I’m wondering if it will become glaringly obvious that we’re using nasty fixtures on pretty cabinets. Getting new wooden knobs rather than full door handles is no problem, that will just mean getting some wood putty and closing up the 2nd holes on the cabinet face, but new hinges will add up. There’s easily 15 doors in that kitchen, and 8 drawers, so you can imagine what the cost is going to be. The whole place will be much easier to work on once the zillion and two Rubbermaid storage containers are moved out of the way.

In much cooler news, my cousin Effie Ethel got engaged last night, so congrats to her. The ring looks gorgeous, and Dave fits in with the family so well it’s scary.
