Hearthstone CupcakesThe cupcakes for the World of Warcraft party today look pretty yummy. I can’t wait to eat one. I’m fairly certain that they’ll all be gone when we leave Wil’s house. There’s going to be grilling and much geekery to be had this afternoon. The only completely sucky thing is that Wil, the guild leader, is going to be quitting the game at the end of this month and so there’s supposed to be a vote for who gets to be the new leader. There’s really only 2 or 3 people who I can foresee taking up the reins, and 1 of them will completely drive the guild into the ground if he gets it because while he’s a nice enough guy he’s way more hardcore than what the guild was meant for. We’re a casual bunch of people, and I predict a lot of issues with him wanting the group to be more into raiding than we are. Oh well.

RedheadI dyed my hair red this morning. With any luck it will actually stay red and not lose all of its pretty color over the next week. I’m not sure where the animals are hiding today, but there was quite the rumble between them in the living room this morning. Chaucer actually cried and ran away from Pickle because I think she nipped him somewhere.

We got the new yesterday that when our lease is up this summer we’ll be able to move into Nanny’s half of the house, essentially the basement of Mom’s. It’s got a huge bedroom and kitchen and a teeny-tiny bathroom, but rent will be cheaper than here and Mom and Brian can use the help. The bathroom down there is too small for Eddie to stand up in and is actually smaller than most closets so we’ll be using the upstairs shower instead of the one that would be ours, but again, it’s cheaper and we’ll be pretty much guaranteed a hot meal every night, right?

I woke up about an hour ago after a 3 hour nap, and I’ve got no idea if I want to go back to bed or stay up for a little while. Eddie, who got around 3 hours of sleep last night and will be going into work tomorrow morning at about 4:30am, is currently sound asleep in the bedroom.

Dinner went off without a hitch. We had to stagger the cooking a bit because the oven only has one rack in it, so once the turkey was done we set it on top of the stove and started cooking the other things, like the extra stuffing. Eddie did the green bean casserole in the crock pot and the yams in the microwave, so that freed up some cooking space. I did the potatoes in the only big pot we had, and once they were done he did his noodles in that same pot while I browned the butter in a smaller one. They tell me that the cranberry relish turned out great, and I sent a bag of it to Dad’s. We didn’t have any basket to put the dinner rolls in except this giant one that Ed’s mom gave me, so we had 2 dozen little dinner rolls rolling around like marbles inside this giant basket. There was only one casualty when the gravy boat broke in the sink while Danielle was helping with the dishes, but that was only because the handle broke off of it and it broke into smaller pieces when it hit the sink.

Chaucer hid in the bedroom for a little while because he was overwhelmed that there were more than 3 people in the house. Pickle, on the other hand, enjoyed getting some attention from strangers and foraging in Mom’s purse, where she attempted to steal a checkbook a few times. Dessert was great, of course. There was pie, cake, and tiramisu. Naturally, we all ate more than we probably should have.

And of course, there was Alice’s Restaurant.

Fridays deserve booze.

I can home from a grueling night at work to find a little note on my desk that says “I *heart* Crystal McBride lots n lots!! xoxoxo.” It was just what I needed after working with a newbie pharmacist who had to double check everything. Not that double checking things is really bad, but there’s a line between being completely anal and being a productive member of the team. It made what would have been a completely slow and normal Friday night rushed and kept us backed up for the majority of the night. It didn’t help matters any that we had several doctors who prescribed things completely retardedly and one incredibly annoying woman who kept calling to find out if something was called in, filled, could be filled yet, or get directions to another store to pick something up over there. On the plus side, I caught a patient adding refills to a Vicodin prescription, and unlike most doctors who just say “fill it but don’t add the refills”, when we called to verify the refills this doctor said “don’t fill it at all.” Needless to say, the guy who dropped it off insisted that he didn’t change it, but the RPh told him to just pass it on that the next time someone could be facing jail time when they’re caught.

Thankfully Eddie had a lovely 6-pack of Mike’s hard cranberry waiting in the fridge, leaving me one very happy chicky when I got home.

If anyone watches the Tyra Banks Show, my cousin Michael Flynn was on it this morning. Yay for NY Jedi getting some national recognition, even if it was on a talk show with the topic “is geek the new hot?” I guess it’s better than one with the topic “Mom, I’m sleeping with your boyfriend and he’s better than Dad!”

We’re not entirely sure what we’re doing tomorrow while we have the whole day off. We might hit some garage sales, we might hit Thayer Street. We might just sit at home and play World of Warcraft and watch TV. I’ve got a couple of crochet things that I’m working on, so whatever we decide, we’ll end up keeping ourselves occupied.

I cleaned a bit today. Both the cat and ferret litter was changed, and I folded all the socks and hung up the clean clothes. Then I did the dishes. Because of this, Eddie promised to take me out on Saturday, and he’s currently searching for things we can do since our original plan of going to King Richard’s Faire would cost us an arm and a leg in entry and gas to get there.

The apartment is getting very homey-feeling. We’ve got real end tables now instead of our fabulously ghetto Rubbermaid totes and cardboard boxes. Eddie hung up some more pictures around the house, and I really wish that we had more wall space. We’re hosting Thanksgiving dinner here this year since Uncle Larry and Aunt Laurie are going to Ohio, so we’re trying to keep things nice in here so that we’ll have a minimal amount of crap to pick up next month. Not that we intend on going without cleaning for a month and a half, but you know what I mean.

I inherited a whole mess of Nanny’s crafts. I’ve got 3 canvas tote bags filled with assorted half finished projects that are who knows how old. There’s a 75% finished knitted vest that is too small for anyone in our family to ever fit into. There’s a couple of blank needlepoint canvasses, and a cross-stitch project that never went further than opening the package. There’s 1 finished cross-stitch project that just needs to be mounted properly, and about 6 packets of different sizes of needles. During the cleaning we also found about 3 sewing kits, the smallest of which I took. There was a photo album that Nanny had made filled with pictures that my grandfather took while he was stationed in the Phillipines during WWII, a framed crocheted hankerchief that my great-great-grandmother made, and several very old books. I also got a beautiful diamond solitaire in a white gold setting, and we don’t know who it belonged to.

Yesterday was the most draining day of work I’ve ever experienced. Who would think that simply pushing my schedule up an hour would screw me up so much? I went in at 11am and left at 7pm, and was just exhausted the entire night. Thankfully I’m not doing all closing shifts anymore because L is back, otherwise I’d be even worse. Fortunately, Eddie rocks my socks and has dinner ready for me when I get home on late nights, and last night we had my completely favorite ghetto meal of ground beef, gravy, and rice. We ate it at the coffee table and watched Survivor and the rest of the Thursday night shows.

Every now and then I have a momentary lapse in reason when I completely forget that Nanny is gone. Eddie bought Knocked Up yesterday and said we were bringing it to Mom’s to watch this weekend, and my first thought was “I don’t think it’s a Nanny-friendly movie.” I still refer to her in present tense. Worse is the thought that I didn’t cry all that much, and I know that if it wasn’t for the Lexapro I’d be a fucking mess, and part of me feels guilty that I’m not.

Tomorrow we’re sleeping late. Then we might do laundry and play some World of Warcraft. Sunday we’re working and then going to Mom’s house as usual. It’s supposed to be comfortable weather, which makes me happy. I hate the nasty humidity and heat.
