Costume shopping at the last minute
We had a rather busy day today.
First, I found out that school is having a Halloween costume contest on Monday, so we’re allowed to dress up on the condition that those of us who are in wet labs and are required to wear lab coats can still wear our lab coats over our costume or integrate it. I spent the afternoon in Walmart looking for something that I could turn into a 50s-style nurse uniform, and checked out the patterns the had for something in there. Unfortunately they had no white skirts, and while I did find a pattern that would have worked perfectly, they had no good white fabric to use, and I left empty-handed.
While I was at Walmart, Eddie gave me orders to call my mother, who was at the ER with my grandmother. Poor Nanny has a full-blown case of pneumonia and will probably be in there for a couple of days, we’re figuring she’ll be out on Saturday. Tomorrow we’ll stop up there with some flowers and a Grumpy Bear balloon or something.
After Walmart we went to Target, because Eddie wanted to find some decent pants and a dressy shirt for his costume as a manager. After seeing the prices of some of the slacks and shirts, he settled for a nice beat-up pair of jeans, knitted cap, and a Grateful Dead tee for a costume as a Dead-head. I tried to get him to dress as a little emo boy, but he didn’t feel like having to explain it to everyone who asked what he was supposed to be. While they did have a snazzy Knight-Rider costume that Eddie drooled over, Target also had no white skirts/dresses for my nurse costume, so I left empty-handed once again.
From Target we went next-door to the Hometown Buffet, since I wanted to have a celebration dinner for getting a perfect score on my Law final last week and getting a 98% for the whole course - highest in the class. Once we were certain that my stomach wasn’t going to freak on me, we went to Savers to see if they had anything nursey there. I managed to find a knee-length white skirt and a cheap lab coat, and decided that instead of being a nice nurse I’d have much more fun being an insane psychopathic deranged nurse, grabbed a cute black wig, and then headed back to Walmart so Eddie could pick up 2 more props and I could get some red paint to make some blood spatters on my clothes. Eddie picked up a wallet with a chain, and enough spices to make a baggy stuffed full of oregano that he’s going to offer to his coworkers.
Now we’re home. We watched Survivor, and CSI is a repeat so I don’t feel bad about missing it to post this. I’m not sure if ER is a repeat. I’ve got a quiz tomorrow in class, and our midterm is on Tuesday. We’re still not sure when Eddie’s mother is coming down; she’d originally planned on arriving tomorrow, but things didn’t come together properly and so she’ll be getting things done sometime next week, we hope.
