movies and more
We went to Chelo’s for dinner last night. It was pretty yummy. We had clamcakes as usual, and they were awesome. We walked around he mall for a little while while waiting for a seat, and let me tell you that if I suddenly went insane and decided that I wanted to breed, I would never let my kids leave the house in some of the shit I saw kids wearing last night.
Hitchhiker’s Guide wasn’t as bad as everyone made it out to be. Sure, it was different than the book, and if you’re a fan of the book going into the theater knowing that the movie isn’t a literal translation from the book then you should be fine. There was a group of guys sitting at the end of our row who obviously had no idea what the movie was supposed to be about, and when the majority of the audience laughed at the fact that the earth blew up, they started saying “it wasn’t that fucking funny, people.” Thankfully they quieted down after the first 15 minutes or so, otherwise I’d have sacrificed Sour Patch Kids by throwing them at the little assclowns.
Eddie’s sleeping. I’ve been up since 7:30am, because he was snoring in my ear and kicking him didn’t stop him. Skittles is running around with a ball and making all sorts of noise with it. He wants a treat.
I’m off to work in 45 minutes. I get 3 days off this week, so tomorrow we’ll be going to the flea market I think, and then having dinner over there. Then we get to play games and stuff and be all happy and geeky.

I’m a huge “Hitchhiker’s” fan and have heard that this is a liberal interpretation of the book. I think I can keep an open mind but there’s always that doubt that they may have screwed up a great thing. Glad to hear your report, makes me feel a little better about going to see it. I’m not the type that would scream in horror “That’s not what Zaphod would do!” but I am a little nervous.

It wasn’t as bad as most of the earlier reviews made it out to be. Everyone says “oh, but it’s not like the book!” I’m sure when the book came out they were complaining that it wasn’t like the radio show, and that the tv show wasn’t like the book. And as I’ve said before, if people complain that Adams’ wouldn’t have liked it, they’re wrong, since he wrote a assload of the screenplay and did a lot of the production stuff before he died.
