New bed and weekend stuff
I got a phone call a little while ago from Brian telling me that he and Mom would be up later with the new bed and dresser. Woot! While I’m quite happy to be getting a real bed (not our inflat-a-bed deal we’ve had, comfy as my side is), I’m not pleased with the sheer amount of shit I’ve pulled out of the bedroom, and can’t wait to move into a place that has actual storage. Both the closets in this house are tiny, and 1 of them is really only half a closet because half the storage part is under the stairs leading up to Comrade’s floor. So now the kitchen, which Eddie cleaned up so well last week, has been reduced to holding 1 bookcase and a dresser and its drawers, because the damned dresser is broken just enough where the drawers won’t go back in without a battle to the death. Eddie left it for the trash guys yesterday, but they wouldn’t take it.
All the bed stuff - pillows, blankets, etc - is piled up in the bathroom at the moment. I’ve got to move some stuff around in the kitchen so that there’s room for matresses and things while we get the bed set up, and then space for the dresser when it comes in the house. I should probably make an effort to get some of the other crap out of the bedroom so we can get the dresser into there and fill it with the stuff that’s been residing in laundry baskets for a year now. Hopefully we’ll be able to find some of our older full-sized sheets, which seem to be hiding in protest of our buying the queen bed.
Tomorrow we’re going to the Ryan Center to check out the Lipizzaner Stallions and then dinner at Mom’s house. That should be interesting, and I’ll have to figure out which gadget in the house stole my camera batteries. In other electronic news, I managed toget my videocard working agin, but not without needing to pull the whole computer apart twice. The only probalem I seem to be having at the moment is I’ve completely lost sound in FFXI.
I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that I’ve got 4 days left of my externship. I’m happy, I’m scared, I’m proud of myself for managing to actually finish something that I started. I’m really hoping that things go well at this interview on Wednesday so I can get right back to work.
Eddie and I came up with a plan for things money-wise that looks like it might help us out a bit once I get a job, and Mom agrees that it sounds like a good idea. Since we’ve discovered that we can live on 1 income in the house, the plan is that once I get a job, whichever of us makes less money will put their paycheck towards overdue bills and the rest into the savings account. The other person’s paycehcks go towards rent and current bills. Once we get enough for a deposit on the new place, we’ll move out and keep going with the same money setup.
