Woe.
It’s official: I’m now a “pharmacy tech trainee in training”. At least, that’s what the RI board of pharmacy says. I had training today in East Providence, which was great. To make matters even more fun, I’ve got another training day on Friday afternoon. I’ve also got my 3-week evaluation this week, and because of the training on Friday I need to have it done by Thursday, giving me a hefty 3 days to wrangle a pharmacist into filling out the paper so I can fax it before I leave. There’s also been some discussion on our hours, since the externship coordinator can’t seem to understand that some people work more than one job and others would prefer to work specific hours, but she wants everyone on a 9am-3:30pm schedule. Personally, I’m completely cool with that, because I’m sick of the 11:30-6pm shifts I’ve been getting. It bites dropping Eddie off, driving home for 3 hours, then driving back down there to work my shift.
There’s more discussion regarding whether or not we’ll be hired, and if we are hired, there’s debate over our starting rates. School told us they had a contract with the stores and have been claiming that we’ll be hired at a higher rate than someone walking in off the street, while the stores are essentially giving us the old Wayne-esque “Shya, and monkeys might fly out of our butts” attitude. In another couple of weeks I’ll call up school and tell them to put my resume out, and we’ll see if I can scare anything outside of retail, and I’ll look for something in both retail and anything else, providing that they pay more than $8.50 (the rate we’ve been told we’ll probably get). Either way, Eddie and I are hoping to get out of this place by June or July.
