We’ve been busy!
Yesterday we spent the day outside the house. Our first stop was to Slater Mill, where we planned on buying some touristy keychains for people. Everything in there was about $5, and we weren’t going to spend $50 on keychains and magnets.
Since the Pawtucket Arts Festival wasn’t starting until dinnertime, we left our neighborhood and headed to tour the Russian sub Juliett 484 in Providence. However, due to road construction and a bitch of a museum worker, we never ended up there because it appeared as though the entrance road was blocked by assloads of construction vehicles. Eddie ended up hanging up on the woman because she told him “you should never have taken a right” when the directions plainly said that we needed to take a right.
Then we were off to Riverside to check out the Crescent Park Carousel, which I was pretty damned sure was still open. Yes, it’s open, but only on weekends I guess, and the only people there were setting up for a private party. We ended up walking through the park next to it and taking a walk on the beach. I took a bunch of pictures of stuff and found a few cool pieces of beach glass, and got a chance to show off identifying shells and things that Eddie found. Eddie was not impressed by the horseshoe crab I found. I don’t think it would have freaked him out as much if he hadn’t seen the underside first. I imagine there would have been shrieks of terror from him had it actually been alive and flailing its claws and tail while trying to flip itself back over.
After that we left the beach. There’s nothing really very touristy in Rhode Island other than Newport, and we didn’t want to drive down there. To avoid most of the highway traffic we cut through the East Side, where we
found a parking spot and walked around the stores on Thayer Street, where Eddie bought a tattooed and pierced rubber ducky and tried in vain to get me to stop and get my nose pierced; I would have done it if it weren’t for the sinus issues I’ve been having lately.
Cutting through side streets we ended up on North Main Street and went into Petco, where we picked up another bag of treats for Pickle and a ferret magazine. From there, still in no hurry to get home, we drove down to Warwick to hit the mall. We checked out Old Navy, where I got one shirt that doesn’t fit and Eddie got 2 shirts that do. Then we found Lane Bryant, which I wished I known was in there last week when I bought bras, because Eddie pointed out they were having a $10 bra sale. I bought 3, none of which are granny-ish, and they do fit.
Unrelated to anything I’ve posted, other than that it was taken yesterday, we also have a picture of my bright blue hair. I adore how this color turns out - it seems to do about 4 shades of blue and green rather than just one color.
We actually seemed to get a decent sleep last night until the rumbling of the garbage trucks came by and woke us up at 7:30-ish. Today we’re going to attempt to get Mom’s old dishwasher into the house. This means that Bryan needs to drive it here, which should be fun. However, the kitchen is clean, as is the living room, so we can actually allow friends and relatives to visit if they wanted to. I think we’re going to go to the drive-in, since there’s only 2 or 3 more weekends for it to be open. We also need to get tires put on Nanny’s truck.
We’re busy beavers. And beavers are noble and majestic creatures.
