Weekend in Review
The drive-in the other night was really crowded, probably because it was the last official weekend of the summer. The first movie, Transporter 2, was nowhere near as good as the first was. The best part of the first movie were the car chase scenes, of which there were 2 brief ones in the sequel. This time around, it was as though someone behind the scenes said, “I liked the first one, but I think it would be better if it had less cars and more Crouching Tiger, Hidden Jackie Chan to it.”
However, date night wasn’t entirely lost as we completely enjoyed Mr. and Mrs. Smith. The chemistry between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie that had been reported in all the reviews I’d read was definitely there, and I now believe that if they weren’t screwing while making the film, they’re more than likely doing it now. It had a good story, it was abso-fucking-lutely hysterical, and was just so much fun to watch.
We went to my mom’s yesterday, as usual. We were suprised by getting the chance to see my uncle Ricky there, who brought over a big box of old photos and negatives to poke through. I took some of the negatives to try to scan (any tips?). My mother surprised me with two bags of school supplies - notebooks, binders, pens, etc. Eddie got a lesson in how to buy seafood and grill swordfish from my uncle, who is the fish master.
Pickle is getting so big. She’s big enough now where she can’t fit under the baseboard heaters very easily anymore, so I’ve covered everything back up in hopes that it will deter her from trying to get in there anymore. So far she can’t really get into them, so I’m pleased. She forced me off the couch today by running up and biting my elbow for no reason other than she wanted me off there, I think. We bought her a collar yesterday because I’d like her to get used to wearing a harnass if we ever take her out, and the harnass we have is still too big for her; I figured collar would be a stepping stone to the full harnass. Unfortunately, the collar is just slightly too big for her and she was able to slip it off. We have Skittles’s old collar with the bell on it, but she associates the bell with her toys and attacks it until she can get it off her.
Eddie’s in the kitchen cleaning something again. We’ve been working on that room on and off all day, and the whole place smells like oven cleaner and clorox cleaning spray. Tomorrow we’ll get the floor washed, and hopefully sometime this week we’ll get the dishwasher from my mother. Right now we’re going to run out to get some stuff for dinner tonight. Mmm…. chicken and stuffing and cream of mushroom soup. Yummy.
