A Little About Me...

I'm just a 31 year old chick from Rhode Island, married to a Canadian, tattooed, childfree, and a World of Warcraft addict. I fancy myself a photographer, or an artist, but who am I kidding - I count pills and sell drugs to junkies.

Disclaimer

I write about everything. If you don't like it, if it's too personal, if you don't want to hear it, if it offends you, if it's about you, I don't care.

I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control, and at times hard to handle, but if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.

The End is Near

I got an email this afternoon which I’ve been expecting for some time now. It came from the regional sales director (at least I think that’s his position) and announces a manditory conference/meeting regarding Wal*Mart booths, and most likely is just to go over the closing schedule. Towards the end of last summer they started closing down the majority of the booths in the region as Wal*Mart is adopting their Connect Centers in both their small stores and the Supercenters, and with the removal of the Wal*Mart-specific management back in March I’ve been well aware that the clock is running out on my cushy kiosk job.

Technically, I should have been let go back in February. I haven’t ever met the sales quota - they’re expecting us to sell 40 new lines a month to people who are in a credit class that will inevitably require a hefty deposit and who will most likely not pay the bill at all after the first couple of months (believe me, I’m in that credit class and we can smell our own kind). These are people who are coming into the store to buy 36-packs of ultra-thin toilet paper and buy-one-get-one deals on socks, they don’t want to drop an extra $500 on a deposit for a phone, plus the cost of the phone. I’ve been written up twice for not making quota - November and December - and once for leaving the booth early, and since I haven’t made quota at all since the previous warning, I’m due for the boot. C’est la vie.

Honestly, I’d love to leave here. I’m fine with the hours I work, although I’d like to have an actual weekend off, I’m not limited to the 2-3 hours I’d get to spend with Eddie when our hours were total opposites. The people here are cool for the most part, there are some weirdos but no more than you’d expect to see in a ghetto Wal*Mart. My boss trusts me enough to not feel the need to visit here on a weekly or even monthly basis, giving me the information to do my audit at the beginning of the month. And since I’ve been working here I really like the feeling of not being managed. I like being independant like this, which I know that I won’t find in any other sort of job unless I’m self-employed.

Should I end up fired, if I had the money I’d go back to school in a heartbeat. I miss learning. I’ve looked into some of the local schools, and I just don’t have the $5k to do it. I’m constantly seeing ads for CNAs and for $600 or so I could do the training for that, and I’ve been trying for years to find a local pharmacy tech training course.

In nonwork-related news, I had a pure dork moment in the car this morning when they announced that Journey is going to be in town this weekend at the Ryan Center. Unfortunately, I don’t have the $50 to go, so I intend on finding a Journey-devoted Launchcast station and playing it constantly at work.
