First post from the new house. My net connection is wonky as all hell (yeah, we all enjoy 30 second connection times, don’t we?). I get awesome download times that I rarely even saw when I was downloading from T1’s, but hell, if I can’t stay connected long enough to actually do anything, what’s the fucking point, right? I can’t seem to make it a full minute without having to release and renew my ip address. It blows. Later this afternoon I get to call the guys at Cox up and chew them out big time, since they’re insistant that the connection problem lies within my computer, which it doesn’t, since the computer works find and conects fine before booting me off, and then randomly reconnecting during the night.I’ve spent a lot of tonight downloading the necessities - winzip, LJ client, webcam drivers, Webcam32 (ugh. anyone got a cracked copy of webcam32 v5 I can have? I hatev6) and tablet drivers (I can’t find the install cd’s). I downloaded aim and icq last night and got those installed without any major issues. I managed to get one camera installed without too much fuss (3 reboots), but it was the paralllel port one that always gives me trouble, so I wasn’t very surprised.I talked with tonight for a while. He’s in a hotel room next to the 7-11 he worked for. He and his folks plan on leaving by noontime today and heading northward to Yellowknife for the holidays. Then at some point on the weekend before New Year’s, they’re hauling his scrawny ass back to Edmonton to fly out to Providence so we can celebrate the new year with much rejoicing (*cough*sex*cough*beer*more-sex*cough*cough*). Yay!
